hello everyone, quick ? are sumps allowed to discharge into the laundry tub which leads to the main drain.

That would be up to the local municipality. The only towns in Jersey that I know of that allow this are Hoboken, Jersey City and Bayonne. But some of the urban areas down by you in may allow it. Check with the towns code enforcement official.

Typically here in NJ - No, a sump pump may not discharge into public sewers… Consider the overloading during a severe storm if everyone’s sump was pumping water into the sewer system… I don’t believe there is a code against it but having it discharge into a septic system would be contrary to common sense…
