Support Beams

I inspected this home to day the support beam is resting on 2x4 should these be steel shims? Do I note this or not the building inspector has ok this. (New construction)

As a rule of thumb, the shims are supposed to be the same material and grade as the beam.


Report it and let the builder sort it out.

I see this all the time. I generally suggest using metal *welded* shims for this type of installation. I guess the same as Jeff said but,in a different way!
