Does the InterNACHI Home Inspection Standards of Practice exam and the Online Inspector Exam help you prepare for the state exam. Trying to get an idea of what scores i should aim for to be ready. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, David
Which state? With that information, you will get better results.
The short answer is no, taking the exams won’t help you, at least not much, but taking the online courses will.
And as Brian stated, to be able to help you better, you should let us know what state exam you’re refering too.
Brian I live in Florida
David, I see that you posted this in Florida section. My mistake and best of luck!
I have taken the class and test. This is for Florida exam
Oops my bad too, I didn’t realize this was posted in the Florida section David.
David, I also ran across this post which may offer some help or clarification.
I finish the InterNACHI 120 hours class and pass their online test, then I pass the FL state exam in the first time. I want to said InterNACHI online class is big help.
Way to go, Cheng!
u got lucky or you are a good guesser… I know all of nachi practice test by heart and i didn’t see any questions on the state exam…everything looked foreign with the state exam… had to guess and failed… the people that wrote the state exam did a poorly job and all they try to do is confuse you… you could build houses and the way they write the questions is only to confuse you . I bet you these people that pass the state exam got lucky guessing… or some how found a way to pass with out taking the test.
Hey David! Yes, both the InterNACHI Home Inspection SOP exam and the Online Inspector Exam can be helpful for state exam prep, but they may not cover everything your state requires. Aim for consistently high scores (80%+ is a good target) to gauge readiness. Also, reviewing your state’s specific requirements and taking additional practice tests can boost confidence, just like just like having the right cutting tools ensures precision in cutting tasks."
I’d love to know how they’re pulling that off.

I’d love to know how they’re pulling that off.
Knowing the questions is not the same as understanding the material.
state exam is completely different… and poorly written to confuse you… the people that wrote the test need to re write the state exam and make questions shorter…yes some people could read better than others and yet they know nothing about home inspections.
it’s probably not written to confuse you but to see if you know what you’re talkng about or if you just read well or remember the answers to the questions. i can read over test material three times and retain it long enough to ace any test. that’s how i got my first degree without studying. same with all of this, but internachi makes it even easier taking their tests. it took me a day to get cpi qualified.
i’ve been a contractor for over 20 years and building a few years before that, so i know about houses, but otherwise i agree completely about home inspectors not knowing about homes. so, how do you suggest we change it? apprenticeship? shadowing inspectors? training requirements increased? something else entirely? i agree something needs done, maybe, but i don’t have any ideas.
Hi I believe state exam questions should be much shorter instead of run-on questions.
I also believe that most of the people that pass the fl. state exam and if had to take it again would probably fail.
So, you are not accepting responsibility for your failure? Alternatively, have you concluded that the system is rigged or people are just lucky? Who taught you this? Do you reinforce this with your children? How do you think they will fare?
I guess you think because you are CMI certified that makes u smarter than me. question mr CMI do you even know how to build a house from ground up with your hands. , and do you even know how to wire a complete house from ground up…and do you know how to install a complete central air system to a house. and do you know how to do the complete plumbing to house… now you can ask me.. do I .. yes. I built 35 houses.. did my own electrical, plumbing . A.C and heating.. .on top of that.. do you even know how to drive a 53 tractor trailer in all states. ..and maybe i’m not good remembering numbers from distances that are inches from inches. i’ m not that smart that’s because the questions on test are made to throw you off of the main topic and on some questions 2 answers could be used. also what throws you off on the test questions is all this numbers , distance from this to that. even my architect saw a few questions from the test and said who the hell is going to remember all these numbers he said we use a book to get distances when we do drawings and plans for houses, we look at the book for numbers and answers, on an other note: just remember.. if you had to take the state exam all over and fail . would you admit to failing.. right. why not test your knowledge and retake the state exam. and see if u could pass and if you fail what would u say I forgot everything about numbers. and distances…another thing.. you look at all these videos on u tube and no one talks about how far this is from that.. how far this pipe should be from that.. or how far this other pipe is from this to that.. why do you think. that is.. because they don’t even know… when they took the test they guessed at it or got lucky. and yes some people are book smart and yet they don’t even know how to tie their shoes..
