Thoughts on these pipes

Hi, I am a new CPI starting out and ran across this the other day and wanted to see what others’ recommendations would be on this. It was on a home in downtown Athens Ga probably built in the 50s or so. One of the areas I am weakest in knowledge and have a lot to learn is plumbing, so I always looking to gain some knowledge when I see something I’m not sure about. Thanks!

Jason

I see an improper repair for starters, got love the coat hanger/pipe hanger peice of work too.

Goes in the WTF picture of day Jason. And probably installed by a Bama fan plumber. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep def a few things going on there seemed like to me. Should the end of the pipe extend above the roof line? Or is it that ok in this situation?

Exterior drain/vent pipe is not something you see everyday, but I see it often enough in GA. On an old home that is performing well and no other visual issues it will not make my report.

You have a couple of issues here to call out. I would recommend it extend above the roof line and note whatever is going on with the wire/tape connection.

Thanks Brian! Yeah I haven’t seen it much myself so thought I would ask about it. This was not on an inspection, just something I saw out of the window of the house I was at and had to go check it out to see what was going on out there lol.

Morning, Jason.
Several issues stick out.

1: inappropriate cast iron hub and spigot horizontal vent repair.
2: Vent Termination within 10 ft (120 inches) from nearest window, measured horizontally.
3: Vent termination opening exposed to debris falling from the roof.
