I hope that hose is certified by the washing machine industry and rated for optional use. icon_sad.gif

Material must be listed for use as a TPR discharge and must drain down hill. I don’t this would qualify for either.

The tag said it was rated for hot water heaters. Is ok to run in that far up and then down? Is there a code reference as to the direction the discharge vent can travel other then terminating in a downward fashion?

IRC2803.6.1 and UPC608.5 - Drain line may not run up hill.

The material may be allowed per IRC2803.6.2 and UPC608.5 for materials used in distribution.

The potential for kinking is what I would refer to - IRC2803.6.1 and UPC 608.5.

Almost positive it doesn’t qualify - it’s a flexible material. Let alone the fact that it’s no where near 6" from the floor.

What’s with the detached vent?

The flex line connected to the copper line and ran outside. It terminated in a downward fashion 4" off the ground. The detached vent is probably from the original gas heater. The whole house had been converted from gas.
