Two waste lines exit the home

I have never seen a home with more that one plumbing waste line exiting the home. I can’t think of why it shouldn’t be allowed, but I thought I would get some more opinions anyway.

Could be the main drain to the septic system and a drywell.


what size pipes were they?

They could be connecting to the same septic tank. I’ve seen that okayed on additions, especially, where it’s easier to run outside that inside. The tanks I’ve seen have more than one entry knockout.

The original went to a septic .
Now are they on town sewer?

both lines run to a septic. The smaller is from an addition.

One is for the washing machine...it goes to a ditch in the pasture. (That's how my farm house works.)

A very common thing here in rural Ontario. If you don’t put your grey water into the septic you don’t have to empty the septic so often. Besides bleach kills bacteria and reduces the effectiveness of the septic system. The county doesn’t like it around here but, hey what they don’t know…
