With all the groups/associations attending a 3 hr introduction chances are very good you will not get a chance to say anything. This meeting to me simply represents a place for all organizations involved to meet, and to create a friendly repoire in order to initiate dialog… There probably won’t be much input from any one party, but the gov’t … they will control the show. Ontarioachi as a group has had great discussions this week with members of the Gov’ts committee!
And for those of you that want to know what we’ve discussed so far, they have been the issues we think really concern the Home Inspection Profession such as:
Suggestions of how we build a collaborative group with other HI Associations to develop and open, freely accessible, unified SoP that allows the Associations to still self-regulate by creating a level playing field for the public to understand what is required during a home inspection.
How we, feel about the statements that Insurers believe Mandatory E&O Insurance will be good for the public, and what we would suggest as an alternative that still protects the public, and yet defends against real negligence.
Why we are for accessible, affordable education and how we intend to provide on-line exams with real time proctoring, reducing the need for Inspectors to travel to, and incur costs for college only education.
Why we stand for stronger enforcement of the HI Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice from within.
How we see that oversight rather than control of a Government Agency of this solution provides a win-win situation for the Public, the Government, the Profession and the Inspectors.
And we’ve done all of this without once 'dissing another Association, Executive of same, Inspector or media “popstar”.
The government reaction to this new approach seems to be winning us some fans in the right circles.
We in OntarioACHI will continue to work in this method to show that given the right people to steer us, the willing volunteers to support, and a re-education of how we should behave in plain sight of the public, this profession can represent itself professionally and be worthy of the trust the public put in us.
“What I failed to see from him at the beginning was to act on one simple project since he was put in this position”](Update on OntarioAchi - Canadian Home Inspectors - InterNACHI®️ Forum)
Here you are attacking Chris Walsh, for what, none of us can identify. Please elucidate with what project you are going on about?
“I … feel that both Mike Holmes Group and OAHI should not be at the table for talks on Licensing”](Home Inspection Licencing Coming to Ontario)
Way to go! another two stakeholders at the meeting attacked
How can using anyone claim that using their own bias and self-generated opinions, based on past action by people that may no longer be in play, to attack anyone who doesn’t agree with their position be classified as “defending the public”.
A cluster bomb doesn’t hit the target it’s going for, it destroys everything around it with huge collateral damage.
If one wants to focus on “defending the public” then a set of positive solutions, backed by rational thinking, and documented policies and procedures that can provide a measure as to their effectiveness is what’s needed.
The public cannot be defended by going around saying “Look how bad everyone else is” and pronouncing “Look how good I am” without a positive plan to back it up, that has no prejudice, no long-standing bias and no venomous, solely destructive comments.
It doesn’t matter whether the decision is made in the open or behind closed doors, as long as the solution is a positive one for all concerned.
No-one wants to be associated, in any walk of life with people who can only think negatively, and no collaborative solution has ever been developed in a mud fight.
It’s a new world, and if the Home Inspection Profession is to remain self-regulated, and both visible and accountable to the public, as we should be, then as Dr. Phil says, “We are all going to just have to get along together.”
If we can’t be part of a positive solution, then we are always going to be part of the negative problem.
Need I say anymore!
Also the private consultation I had with the Consumer Services and the Consulting firm outline the problems with all Associations in Ontario.
With much effort they have come to realize that not one Association has the ability to steer the Home Inspectors in the right direction.
I have also explained clearly why that is the case.
Some of the discussion at the meeting will focus on the why.
You have no clue so when I say this Yuri take it the way you Like. If indeed you do belong to another Association you too should have a MB that you can attack who you feel should be attacked out of the public view.
At least I know that if Len does this at OntarioAchi he will be able to monitor or remove the comment right away since he built the MB.
That does not happen on the open section of the InterNachi MB, so the more he talks the more damage he causes his own little membership group.
Surprise ,Surprise can you imagine Yuri called some one rude …
I have a good idea Yuri why not go and look at your self in the mirror and say these words .
(" .I Yuri will try harder to be a good example on the NACHI forum from now own
Today would be great day for you to improve and start to help all .
BTW that is why I said it Yuri! You did not want to help OntarioAchi from the get go.
Among many other CMI’s in Ontario.
I would suspect that if InterNachi is to be presented at the Consumer Services it would be best to have a Veteran do this.
Willing to give that over to anyone that wants to do so.
That individual must not be tied to other connections to further the interest of other Associations and that individual would need to start with square one by having a personal chat with the “Watch Dog.”
The reason, Kevin, I did not want to help OntarioACHI because of you. I did not want in any way to be associated with you, Kevin. Now that you are gone from this association I might very well take another look at it.
