Hi everyone,
can someone please tell me the email address to send my W-9 form to for the roof data program?
Thanks in advance.
Rich
Thanks Ben.
As an additional stream of income, I am exploring the roof data technician training.
On the EXHIBIT B form do I put my name after Data Collection Technician or the name of my business?
thanks
Hi, Pete. What you want to do is… Visit InterNACHI® - International Association of Certified Home Inspectors and go to Step #4. Use that web-based form.
I believe the EXHIBIT B form is the sample shingle collection agreement. Im assuming they would take the info off that to cut a check?
thanks
I am about to begin the Roof Date Technician Training.
Looking forward to this.

Hi all, I’ve been doing these jobs regularly over the past year. You’ll have to jump on the notifications of a job in your area quickly to ensure you get it. The jobs have been fairly straight forward, but occasionally are difficult. I’ve learned to take knee pads and gloves for the hot afternoons in Central Florida. Keep in mind that the clients have submitted claims and if those are justified the shingles may not be in great condition to extract. Additionally, you’ll want to evaluate the roof carefully because loose granule surfaces can be slippery to walk on. This is a program where getting on the roof is mandatory unless not safe, then you’ll have to turn the job in not complete. But better to miss pay and live to get another assignment!
I just ran in to my second collection without underlayment in the past few months. I was surprised the first time but really shocked today with the second. I called a trusted roofing contractor to inquire how common it was and got the feedback that they never see it. Both roofs were low pitch; first 1.5/12 and today’s 3/12. Both were hot mopped directly under the shingles which made it an absolute nightmare to extract the shingles.
Get er done!
I’d like to see a link where you could check the status of a job to see if its been assigned or not. Now you have to respond and wait to see if someone else has the job or they assign it to you. If you’re the only one doing them in your area that’s great and its easy or if you happen to have your phone handy and can respond promptly. Quite honestly if its been any longer then 20-30 minutes since the email was sent I don’t waist my time responding.
I cant even get the job within 30 seconds, honestly. I love the jobs but I don’t even know why I try to catch them, somebody in my area must have an instant response set up to that email. I don’t think its right that other roofers can take this course through internachi and be assigned these jobs if they are not members of internachi. I pay my membership fee and I loose these jobs to other people who used internachi to enroll in this program but don’t pay a membership fee. These jobs have been pretty hot in my area and I have only cought 1 in the last 2 weeks
Yep I thought about setting up an auto reply but there are some jobs that I don’t want because of the distance they just don’t make sense. I do mobile home foundation inspections for an engineering company and they call me about the job if I want it I get it if not they go to the next person on the list. I don’t know how many are on their list or if they rotate you from the top to the bottom. InterNachi has set this up to simulate a sort of bidding process which it is not as the price is fixed and only varies based on distance. They say the system is designed for inspectors who are not busy and can use the work. IMO the current process does not build a relationship and loyalty. If I had a personal relationship with the scheduler I might take jobs that I normally would not (short notice, outside of my area ect). I was one of the first in my area to do this and was part of the pilot program, it was a little extra income during the slow times but as the system has grown the benefits/jobs have decreased. I’m sure its a lot easier for InterNACHI to send out a blast email to a local area and wait for the response also I don’t know the volume of jobs that they have across the country. I expect some areas have only one guy while other areas have multiple participants. I guess there is no perfect system but I wonder how many have similar experiences with the current system.
I may be wrong from what I read you have to be a paying member to get these jobs, and also from what I understand they contact the three closest members and the first one to reply gets the job
