ok…
House is a VERY rural part of Florida bugs galore. ( got chawed by mosquitoes).
2005yr old house…bottom half of entire exposed (block) house cracked cement and needs pointing.
Question: being the house is vinyl sided…isn’t the block under the siding going to need pointing too?
Won’t it need maintenance? seems like Stucco would be a better fit in this environment.
I’m also thinking all the bugs that will live in the stucco would be a nightmare. ( yes the guy thinks he lives in Maine…deck was chomped by termites…wood farmers porch in FL???)
Not in Florida, but I think that you are overthinking this. JMO, repointing is not necessary. Any concerns, which I wouldn’t have, could be dealt with a little bead of caulk. What you can’t see behind the siding is not your/our problem.

I’m still trying to understand what that means…
And are you sure the house isn’t wood frame with vinyl siding?

The vinyl sided portion should have house wrap under it. That will keep the moisture out of the cracks in the block.

In Florida (and most of the South) Formosan Termites are spreading like crazy. They are reported to be able to enter structures through cracks as small as a 1/64".
