Hello, I am ahome owner in California. I am a decent plumber and know almost all the laws and regulations with residential plumbing…Except for this… I am adding a second story addition above the garage, and need to put a 3" waste stack up one of the side walls(where there is a obviously a footing. The footing rises aprox 6" above the foundation. I was considering stubbing out of the wall, but that is the main walkway to our front door. Can anyone advise on what is legal and what is not, when messing with the footing? I could try stubbing into the garage, down the side of the footing, then go beneath it, and back out… But it seems like alot more work. I greatly apreciate anyones help, and love the site… Thanks for reading my first post!! OCSURF

Undermining or penetrating a footing typically requires additional reinforcement. It can be done, but you may want to consider getting a design approval from a PE.
