It could be. Water heaters were manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s that vented through a flexible hose like the one in the picture. They were power vented and terminated through a wall cap that looked like a large dryer vent cap (no damper of course).


Were the installation instruction available?

was there a tpr valve with extention?

I’m not sure why you need a vacuum breaker there. We do require expansion tanks on the cold side around here, but that didn’t start until 2002, and that there water heater is much older than that. It will die soon!


The power cord runs the power vent motor. It is usually clamped at the motor, so I'm not sure that it needs a clamp at the top of the cabinet too.
