Does any one see a problem with a water softener discharging into a french drain in very sandy soil? I believe the size of the of the pit is adeqately sized to fully drain before the next cycle but was wondering about other factors such as salt build up in the pit or any other down sides to this type of installation. Any thoughts?

That is the way it is generally done and allowed around here on septic systems. I do see them drain into a laundry tub from time to time on city systems. I’ve never written it up.

As long as the drain lines do not go all the way down to the ground or, if they do, there is an air gap in the line above ground, that should be okay.

Really no different than draining them to above ground and any salt buildup which would occur at the point of discharge of the pipe.
