Inspecting a crawlspace today and found what I assume is a home made ventilation system…I love the juice can pipe joint and the old vacuum cleaner hose!

Looks like a car tail pipe. Does not appear to be performing very well. Definitely elevated humidity/moisture in that space.

Got hammered twice with snow, -12 (normally 2-5 at night), atmospheric rivers, sink holes…you know, all the fun stuff!

Thanks, just curious. We do not have snow here. Our common problems with moisture at a sill plate are typically related to fenestration or decking flashing issues. Occasionally cladding can cause a problem or soil piled above the sill plate.

Makes me think of a “community” a few miles down the road from me. Fifty percent of the cars coming out of there sound like the muffler’s are missing. After a little thought, we joked that that there was a catalytic converter thief in that “community.” After further thought, these folks are probably cutting them off their on cars and selling them to support “habits.”
Sorry for the OT, just wish the folks around here knew how to use a welder…
