Hi to all,

these panels are from my inspection yesterday in deepest NH, where code aren't known and only the brave touch panels ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

I though I would post them here to see what members could spot in the way of defficiencies.

Gerneral lay out the first "Main Panel" connects to a "Sub Panel" which also supplies a second "Sub Panel"

have fun

Main panel

1st Sub Panel

2nd Sub panel

See what you can come up with, also I have large size pictures of these so if you want a blow up of any area I will edit and post it.

Regards

Gerry

I’ll leave some for others, but I just love using wire too big to fit into the lugs. It looks so cool to just bend the extra back a little icon_lol.gif

Ok, here are some basics

- wire too big to fit into the lugs as Robert said
- double lugged neutrals on main panel
- no anti-corrosion compound on alum wire
- excess sheathing in sub panel
- ground and neutral bonded in sub panel
- white wire used as hot but not permanently marked as such in sub panel
- double lugging on neutral/ground bar
- excess wire in sub panel
- Gerry's spell checker not working

A little hard to see but it looks like a scorched panel by the nicked blue wire in the bottom left corner of the main panel. eusa_think.gif

In addition to the above:

- Ground wire (right bus, lower) not fully inserted into lug, main panel
- Ground wires too close to feed wires, main panel (nearly a direct short - yikes!!!)
- It looks like there is a double lugged breaker in the first sub-panel
- There is an open knock-out at the top of the first sub-panel
- Feed wire partially out of lug in first sub-panel
- I cannot see any neutral or ground wires feeding the first sub-panel

Oops. The second item in my previous post refers to the first sub-panel, not the main panel.

BTW, there are still a couple of BIG issues that have not been commented on on this system.

I give out some clues tonight if no onehas spotted them.

How about ground and neutral on the same bus bars?

I can’t tell if the neutral/grounding bus bar is bonded to the main panel but the neutrals in the second sub panel need to be isolated.

You might want to mention the FPE panel. But then you might hear the realtors say “no other inspector has ever made an issue of that” (or something to that effect).

Hi to all,

Greg, congrats, that is a big issue, especially as 4 of the breakers tried to escape as I removed the dead front ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

But there is more, and a rEALLY BIG issue !!

The neutral that runs from the first subpanel to the second subpanel is connected at the second subpanel but I can’t seem to locate it anywhere in the first subpanel
