I saw this for the first time today while inspecting a condo, is this type of framing acceptable? The bases of the studs are toe nailed into place.

I probably would have put a plate top and bottom and mitered the studs but since it’s not load bearing and appears only to be holding the sheathing and siding on the gable I don’t see a big problem. Were the joints tight?
I agree with larry.
Looks to be only for attachment of building paper and sheathing.
Trusses/rafters are the support.
I see no problem here- don’t make something out of nothing!
As long as its not load bearing I dont see a problem.
I guess building techniques and standards of framing defer from mine and the standards of building in this area.

Marcel, I am with you, Ive built houses, but never done anything like this before. It looks like shoddy workmanship to me.
