White pipe

Has anyone seen this type of vent pipe before. The vents were a mix of this white pipe and black cast iron pipe. The pipe looked and felt like cast iron but I have never seen it this color before.

I would say that is asbestos cement pipe (AKA - Transite).

I think John is right. I did notice that the ends appeared to be ever so slightly fibrous.

BTW, I was a bit surprised to discover that non-asbestos insulating material is still produced under the “Transite” name:

Looks like it's mostly a firebrick and gasket material, however.
