A poor man’s power braces…

In need of a clue. That’s not how standing seam roofs work:

Indeed, these aren’t new. These do not work.

How to build a deck taller than 16’- If you can not find a post long enough- just drop a smaller post on top and scab a few drops around the edge for structural support.

Correction. That should read “just drop a smaller post on top and scab a few drops around the edge for emotional support.”

Emotionally I did not feel supported knowing that tenants use this often.
I have never reached out to a tenant directly, but I felt compelled to let them know about the safety concern with this one. They never “considered” that it might not be correct.

I wouldn’t step foot on that, or the other one on the left.

Yeah that one is a cantilever with water damage all around the joists as they penetrate into the envelope.

Inspection today, the customer handed me the GA Wood Infestation Report which can only be completed by a licensed pest control contractor. It stated no current or past wood destroying insects.

From the crawlspace entrance I saw both termite tubes (painted white) and powder post beetle bore holes. The remainder of the crawl had much more of the same to include extensive termite damage.

I guess the paint DOES work!

This one’s going to be fun:

(not that I’m against fuses or anything, but it’s a lot more work to inspect)
(note the asbestos)
(note the fused neutral)

Overhead conductors for the garage.

They could have at least used a darker color of bathroom caulk.

That would indeed, be a clothesline.

How on earth was a smart meter installed into that mess?

And could I get anybody to care? Well I suppose I could have called the POCO or 911. Short of that getting yawns so far, though that line crosses two public sidewalks and a street.

Hey, at least it’s a nylon reinforced clothesline holding it up, rather than pure cotton.

B-Vent field modified to be longer:

Held together with a single 3" long screw that went through both walls of the pipe.

This is what I saw from the roof, after twisting off the B-Vent cap (which was of course, loose):

The contractor pulled it all out for the photos. There were a half dozen through screws.
