Does anyone know which digits represent the year that a Bradford-White water heater was manufactured with the following serial number?

HFR050404

The owner said he's lived there 5 years and hasn't replaced it.

For that matter, what good sources are on the internet for interpreting water heater and/or furnace serial numbers for date of manufacture?

Thanks.

The year codes are the first letter in the serial number

I think the difference between a 1984 "A" and a 2004 "A" should be obvious.

The above chart is good to have with one note. There are a few water heaters out there with a s/n starting OA this was a computer error, they are dated 1997, January.
