AAA Construction school offers grandfathering help.

Put another way, all of us staffers at InterNACHI are going to get up tomorrow and every day after that and go to work. We work hard for members and we work hard against non-members. It’s up to each inspector to decide whether he/she wants us working for or against him/her.

Brought a tear to my eye, but never a dollar to my pocket… Love the emotion though. So you have just been holding off on the marketing for…for…for…You have kept the organization at the bottom of the barrel in Real Estate professionals eyes…for…for…for…You have made us the bastard of inspection organizations for…for…for…

Are you serious your marketing plan is for us to be unknown. I need to type that again. Your marketing plan is for us to be unknown.

OK, its 1 am and I have a 730 tee time. I will have to just sleep on that marketing plan because right now…I am beyond confused!

Thats a great view. I see it as Nick works for Nick and could care less about Russ. Want to know how I know. Nick never asked Russ what he needs…NEVER…

My overall marketing plan for members is the same as it always was… to continue to give members zillions of free competitive advantages in all areas over their non-member competitors.

What do you need?

Russell, the $100 exam you complain about (and which BTW, InterNACHI didn’t see a penny of) is yet another example of a competitive advantage given to our members over their non-member competitors who had to pay triple that. I might as well have sent every one of them $200+ in cash. Same math.

I have had quite a few

Let’s cut the BULL now. I do understand the issues on hand but, regardless of how things have shape up licensing, InterNACHI by far is and always will be the best Home Inspector Association that exists. You get the best bang for your bucks, hands down. I will refuse to join any other HI association other than InterNACHI!

We need to come together as “Floridians” and hatch this out. Nick flies out from Colorado by itself to come to Florida to help us out and take the heat. I was in Tallahassee and Nick was there actively participating on behalf of us. Additionally, for $289.00 you get the best possible HI education, support, counseling and a heck of a message board. No other place you will find that kind of support. In my area of business my competitor used to belong to other HI associations it did not took long before they realized that InterNACHI was the only one to be in. So, there you have it. I encourage you all that rather than throwing arrows at each other’s in a public forum lets organize a FLORIDA convention and let’s go at it. STOP the argument! And let’s do what is right! We need to come together as one for the best of our industry. InterNACHI should be the vehicle.

Nick, since you are always trying to defend the arguments why not plan a FLORIDIAN convention and lets hatch our concerns, beside you have thousands on members in our state.

John,

Dont exagetate the numbers (and I am sure Nick will confim them) At last count, I heard there were about 1200, which is up form 500 once the licensing started.

I did have some customers tell me they found it while researching and it let them know I was likely the lowest price at the time.

I could use a little magic now, could you start something again it has been pretty slow this week.

They’re hating on this school more than they ever hated on meeker!

Lucky School.

Now they will get all the publicity. I do not know what people thought was going to happen.

The requirements to be grandfathered into a profession that really did not have any requirements to begin with likely would not be to difficult to do.

At least those like me who are grandfathered in had to do something which is better than nothing.

It is not like all of the sudden you are going to be required to have a lot of experience or education. Would that be fair when so many before just woke up one day maybe joined an association and said I am a home inspector.

Let the bashing commence.

Everyone knows that “setting the bar higher” was NEVER gonna happen, politicians don’t put voters out of work, Jeb was right to not sign the bill that was passed.

The reality is the University of Florida wrote in their Sunrise Study that registration should be the highest form of regulation in the state of Florida. FABI, ASHI & NAHI, in their hatred of NACHI went off half-cocked thinking they could muscle legislators into putting NACHI inspectors out of business with tough regulation… Nick had other plans, and the rest is history.

If someone has seen a post where I say the educational benefits SUCK, please let me know, because that is FAR from the truth. The education benefits are worth MORE than the fees I pay.

With that said, the MARKETING is absolutely poor and I will stick by these statements. NACHI has NO market share with those making legislation. Things in this state are going to be moving fast and furious and we have no voice, or at least I have asked for those who know to inform us and this has yet to be heard.

If my posts make you angry and mad. GOOD, at least now your involved one way or another. Before you were just sitting idle and doing nothing and watching the inspection world pass us by. With no representation on the upcoming items, we will be passed by and YOU will be force to swallow a pill you will not like.

I DO NOT HAVE THE ANSWERS…I have suggestions, I have ideas, I have notions…but I am just one guy. We need to be above the rest, we need to be the leaders in our organization and we need to let those in charge know what our needs are and see if they can meet them. If not well then there are other paths to choose.

Nick mentioned we should strictly talk about marketing. NACHI does not have an active and viable marketing strategy for us. Do I believe Nick works diligently on the organization? Yes. Do I think he has an ego that will not allow him to admit some of his processes have failed. 100% Yes. He will defend things that have proven to be of no use. Why not just admit it does work properly, find another source and then implement it.

NACHI does not work for YOU it works for NACHI. If you think I am wrong, when has anyone asked you what you need, how to be better, how to change things in an ever changing market. Maybe people have asked, maybe I am wrong.

Look at the past threads…I would like for you to see where NICK stopped for one minute and asked…hey what can I do to solve the problem. NEVER, because he would then have to eat some of his ego and admit something is not working as intended. He will never do that. I have never seen more of a monarchy system in my life and I lived in Monarchy systems. He did ask in one thread…what did I need…I will say that, but it was after numerous threads of arguing back and forth.

These are just my views and they may be right, they may be wrong. But as long as I have made you think about our future as an organization and how to make our profession better as a whole, then a small goal acheived…

I can agree with what you said. Florida has always grandfathered a profession when first enacting licensing. Things will be much different for home inspectors in just 3 years.

How many home inspector licenses do you think will be issued by March 2011?

My guess is 1500

Back in 2004 the estimate was 2000, I think there will be more.

I just signed up for InterNACHI today. Can I get a refund and enroll through the AAA Construction course instead?

I just joined InterNACHI today. Can I cancel my membership and re-apply through the AAA Construction school with the hours and exam at a lower cost?

Hey, what can I do to solve your problem Russell?

There is no magic pill to marketing. Everything relies heavily on synergy (you have to do many little, seemingly trivial things all at once for the motor to hum)… see www.nachi.org/success.htm

It is full of exact instructions.
