Air Freshener in light fixture

So…first time I’ve come across this, haha. Bathrooms at a dive bar in Fort Worth, TX. So the air fresheners work. The owner wired a single two-prong outlet in the light fixtures in order to plug in the air freshener.

Anyone have an idea of where it says you can’t specifically alter a light fixture like this? Or is this just a grey area and the owner gets huge points for creativity?

Thanks in advance.

I would just narrate what I saw and recommend that the client ask the owner, in writing through their agent, asking what is up with the air fresheners.

And, welome to our forum, Matthew!..Enjoy!

Are you sure he wired something in, or is it just one of these installed?

Still, there is an odor that is being covered up/hidden…why?

'Cause it’s a public restroom in a bar???

That could be, especially a dive. But, I like to have that in writing so the monkey is on his back, not mine.

I see they put a clip-on car air freshener at the supply air vent too. Must be a smelly bar.

Every place that I have been that looks like that sells a $12.00 Totino’s Party Pizza to go along with that lukewarm PBR.

If they altered wiring, that’s not OK.
If they just screwed in an Edison base to outlet adapter, they get the creativity points.

I have a feeling this bar will have many other ad-hoc electrical issues that can be all lumped together into the “FUBAR” category of the report.
