Nick, I now truly believe you are a certified psychopath. Your views and opinions are junk, and totally without merit.

It's amazing, and I am sure you'll see a pattern here. ANYONE can send you a check and be considered a CERTIFIED home inspector. With ZERO qualifications. Let me repeat...ZERO qualifications. You claim that the entrance exam is a membership requirement. But even retarded TV reporter can pass this test with no problem. Hmmm.
ASHI has entrance requirements. REAL requirements. A proctored exam, and REAL VERIFIED inspections. ASHI has been around since before you were screwing people over in your real estate deals.

How many times have we seen CERTIFIED inspectors posting messages here asking advice for their FIRST inspection. Certified without EVER having performed an inspection. I guarantee that the candidates at ASHI are far more qualified than the vast majority of NACHI "certified" members.

I am also disgusted by your partnership with AHIT, but it shouldn't surprise me that you would partner with a home inspection "school" that after only one week of training, encourages their "certified graduates" to go out and start inspecting homes. GREAT move! And you have the balls to critisize ASHI.

Nick, NACHI serves a purpose. To "certify" inexperienced home inspectors so they can join REAL associations when they are good enough or have enough REAL inspections under their belt to be considered REAL home inspectors.

There are some wonderful people here. There is some real talent here.
But you are not it. You are, and will continue to be the joke of the home inspection profession.

Gromicko, you are a joke, a psychopath, and a liar.

FYI: I am not an ASHI member. Yet.

Anyone care to bet on how long it will take Bowman to "accidentally" delete this post???

As I predicted... some idiot would try to confuse the issue by bringing up ASHI full membership requirements when we are talking about their Candidates.

Q. What is the only requirement needed to join ASHI?

A. $$$$ (answer provided by ASHI's Scott Patterson).

After you merely send in $$$ ...ASHI will add you to their membership roles (diploma mill ASHI). 2/5ths of ASHI's membership (according to Scott Patterson) have no qualifications. Some association!

Here are NACHI's requirements: http://www.nachi.org/membership.htm

ASHI has one: $$$.

Anyway... what is your beef with AHIT now? AHIT is a good school. And although I've know the Newcomers for years, this is the first time we have agreed to start working together. I couldn't be more pleased with AHIT.

Mr Porter:

Not to make this a thread drift, but I must tell you an experience I had yesterday on an inspection. Seller tells me after I completed a 4 hour inspection that included air sampling due to visible evidence of mold, that the inspector who inspected the house when they bought it was recommended by the Realtor and was in and out of the house in 45 minutes. The house was 2500 sq ft. I asked if they remembered the name of the inspector and what trade association they belonged to. A***. I must tell you Mr.Porter that this type of inspection can happen to a buyer regardless of what association the person sent the check to. Thats where integrity comes into play. What appears to be happening in regards to the internet is NACHI is kicking some major A**. I see you belong to NAHI. If am happy you have chosen to belong to them. Unfortunately all trade associations are losing ground to NACHI because of the innovative forward thinkers who volunteer their time to make this organization stronger. I personally can join anyone of the trade associations. I chose NACHI because of the desire I see its inspectors to strive towards excellence and wanting more from its National leadership. Once the NACHI exam is proctored, you and all the other sour grapes will have nothing more to chatter about. There is room for everyone here in the inspection industry to join a National trade association. There can only be one number one. Thank you for posting and allowing our hits to grow stronger and stronger. If you are wondering why we are NUMBER ONE on the internet, just ask yourself do your 320 posts have anything to do with supporting the internet domination effort?

How about posting the most up to date pass/fail ratio on the NACHI exam.

Since you have access to the names of the individuals that have failed the NACHI exam, lets see if those that did not pass our test in the last year are A*** Candidates today!

We do not need names, just numbers.

Thanks,

My point: Nick does not need to bash other home inspection organizations with lies and half-truths. It is counter-productive to NACHI and its membership. Nick's rants just embarrasses NACHI.
ASHI has its faults and merits. NACHI has its faults and merits.

NACHI has the resources to stand alone. With the exception of acknowledging them as fellow home inspection organizations, ASHI, NAHI, HII, AII, SPREI, and every other organization shouldn't ever be mentioned here. (IMHO).

Bashing the competition is the lowest form of marketing. NACHI can be so much better than that.

Ed,

How would you compare Nick's public comments to those made by Steve Gladstone and Jeff Hooper? Have you shared your outrage with them, as well?

Let's see this must be post 322...I am sure that I will make 1000 before ya know it. And remember, Nick is the one I have the issue with. Again, I truly feel NACHI has something to offer, if the grandsatnding and chest pounding were to go away.

James, I don't recall ever reading anything by Steve Gladstone, I have heard his name, but don't specfically know anything about anything he said or wrote. Hooper and I rarely cross paths.

Ed,

Gladstone was the last president of ASHI. In his farewell address to his troops, he declared it a sin for ASHI members to also belong to NACHI and cited his personal reasons. I might still have a copy of his letter, somewhere. I'll post a few excerpts if I can find it.

As far as Hooper is concerned, he is the outgoing president of FABI who has made it his personal goal to "rid Florida of NACHI". He has been as successful at that as he has been as a leader of legislative efforts to eliminate his business competition in his state as well, fortunately.

Neither of these two former leaders are being held as accountable for their actual tortious interference with the businesses of NACHI members as those who oppose them on this message board. If you want to be credible and fair in this, go to IN and oppose Hooper's diatribe in the same manner you do Nick's assertions.

FWIW ASHI is about to require that all applicants successfully pass the NHIE exam first. Many if not most brand new inspectors that do not require a license in their state, will fail this exam the first try without some construction/technical background or intense study.

I was minding my own business on the NACHI message board. I made my comments on NACHI's message board, the only message board I visit, read, or post on. ASHI's Steven Gladstone and Scott Patterson should do the same. ASHI's Scott Patterson interrupted our thread on our message board to declare that ASHI's membership magically increased by 40% as they now consider and count their "come only with cash Candidates" as ASHI members. ASHI math at its finest ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif) . I don't go to ASHI's message board and declare that everyone who merely sends NACHI enough money is now being counted as a NACHI member, because it isn't true. Scott Patterson came here to tell us how ASHI math really works.

Anyway, my friend Leslie E. Van Alstine, who I believe is on ASHI's Education Committee and typically sits/eats with me at Michigan Chapter meetings and I had come up with a joint ASHI/NACHI proposal (not in writing yet) whereby both ASHI and NACHI would both increase their entrance requirements.

We can't wait for ASHI though. So NACHI continues to increase its requirements anyway without ASHI (unilaterally). Last month we moved up the Standards of Practice course so that one must complete it in the first 30 days of membership, we added the new roofing course along with its quizzes and final exam http://www.nachi.org/roofingcoursereleased2005.htm , and increased the number of continuing education hours from 18 to 24/year (the highest in the industry). http://www.nachi.org/membership.htm

ASHI increased their entrance requirements too. You now have to send ASHI their check right-side-up in the envelope

Hi Nick,

Let’s face it, passing an SOP test whether it’s ASHI, NACHI or NAHI is a joke. Who couldn’t pass that test? icon_lol.gif

You must not have read my above post where ASHI is tightening the requirements for candidates. The NHIE is no picnic.

Erol, wake up. You don’t have to pass the NHIE for Scott Patterson and ASHI to count you as an ASHI member. Pay attention to the conversation.

You will notice that on the top of http://www.ashi.org/inspectors/join/candidate_application.htm

ASHI proudly proclaims that the application has a very, very stiff requirement...

"YOUR SIGNATURE ON THIS DOCUMENT AND A COPY OF YOUR DRIVER?S LICENSE OR OFFICIAL STATE PHOTO ID ARE REQUIRED FOR MEMBERSHIP IN ASHI" (note third to last word in this sentence)

that and $$$ is all it takes!

ASHI's Candidacy program is nothing short of a text-book diploma mill.

Jim,

I can never understand why some organizations both state side and in Canada think it is their God given right to dictate their version of freedom of choice when it comes to which organization one belongs to.

Oh well... there is nothing like common sense, and this is nothing like common sense....
