Beginner roof vent question

Hi I am very new and going through the writing assignment for the roof inspection course, so I apologize if this is a basic question. I noticed that there are three off ridge vents on this roof and one is different than the others. The one that is different has flashing that goes straight up as if to divert water away from a door. This doesn’t make since to me because: 1 it is to high on the roof to divert water from a door and this house has a gutter system all the way around the roof. 2 There isn’t a door under it.

Is there a different purpose to the vent being this way? I have included pictures of the two different vents. The vent with the perpendicular flashing is on the East side of the house and the others are on the north and west side. It is also in Florida. Is there something with wind and storms that make it necessary on the east side?

I appreciate any guidance and information. Thank you.

Hi Ashley, welcome to the MB. Based on the apparent age of the roof (newer) vs the age of the background my WAG would be one vent was installed during original build and another was added during a reroof. The baffle/louver/flashing at the throat (lower open edge) of the vent is intended to negate wind-driven rain.
