Did you order all of them? Takes all of this and a little more to make a BIGCrawler.
Aside from all of the banter above…Great idea for the rare inaccessible crawlspace. The 360° camera is definitely a good move. In all of the inspections I have done, only 3 or 4 were truly inaccessible and this would have been great.
I feel it is a pretty awesome tool for the rare occasion I cannot get my old ass in the space somehow. Crawling will take longer, but you clearly get a better view. But this is pretty damned good for the rare opportunity.
In my eyes, it is not different from using a drone on an inaccessible roof. If safety limits my access, the drone gets flown, and if the FAA or weather limits my flying, the camera pole comes out. They are simply more tools to have in the van.
Suggestion - may be worth adding in a mic so you can narrate as you roll. I narrate my sewer scopes as I scope.
Woah! that’s a whole lot of parts. I am going a simpler route. I was just thinking of strapping my DJI drone on top of an RC car. If that doesn’t work out, do you have a shopping list of the items in the picture?
So Scot, It’s past August… I see the big order photo above, does this mean you’ve met you goal and are ready to start selling the new version?
I finished the first client version a couple of weeks later than I wanted, it is the black unit in the front middle. I sold out the first round of 6 crawler builds, 5 of them are in the picture. They are in different stages of being built. I have not started the 6th one yet. Lots of man hours.
Very nice, Scot!
Thank you Larry. How are you?
Very busy with grandkids since my daughter’s unexpected passing.
But we guide them, hug them and love…and whatever else is needed.
I jump on the board when time allows…waiting for them at an appointment, later at night, etc.
And you, Scot? I hope things are great for you and yours.
O no, so sorry to hear this. We wish you all the best for them. Florida has been great, both the people and the area. Everyone is so nice here. Grinding every day marketing and such to try and get busy like we were in CA.
You’ll do fine with your attitude, skill, personality, etc.
Godspeed!
I like the way you are pioneering things. I see an assembly line in your future
Very cool. Seems like the way to go…
Lets see some video or pictures using it.
Well that might get you pics or video of the dirt floor, if you strap a light on there somewhere.
I will get some pictures and videos up this weekend. I’ll keep you posted.
I tested it and it gets good pictures of what is ahead of it and down towards the dirt. I have to figure out a way to position the drone at an angle where the gimbal can point straight up. I will keep you posted.
I suspect the drone will just need to be more vertical.
Mount the drone upside down on the crawler…
That was my thought as well.
One thing I wonder though, you almost have to have your drone controller and phone in one hand and your crawler remote in the other. Might be kinda cumbersome to be working 2 remotes.
