Small, 1950’s era home, west side of los angeles. In the process of buying it, a few things have been noted by the house inspector.
Vertical foundations have been reported as being " cracked, but with angle iron bolted across". The walls have been red headed down, alongside the original bolting.
No evidence of cracking outside the home, and the piers were said to be "new".

Joe,
I don't get the message, you say cracks are not visible outside the home..
Vertical cracks that run the entite length of the (visible) foundation, especially wider at the top are usually not good. Very thin vertical cracking is not always bad. You say it's been bolted.. sounds like a previous foundation repair. Need pictures

More information Joe! Is this a raised foundation system? Are the cracks your inspector’s referring to in the vertical isolated post/pier foundation systems? What are the dimensions of the cracks? Is there any deflection at the associated cracks? Was any other foundation efflorescence, spalling and or other degradation noted? Was there any evidence of prior water intrusion to the sub area? Was negative slope/ grade at perimeter yard areas and or site drainage conditions mentioned? We need pictures please
