Consistently beating up on our “inferior”, albeit the ONLY entrance exam. The continual mention of how the word Certified means that we are misrepresenting ourselves. It is not a misrepresentation, it is marketing and I will continue to use it, advertise it for myself and every other NACHI member at every event that I attend for presentations at NACHI, such as the NAR Conference, ITA Expo, Housemaster Convention, all State Realtor Association Conferences that I can attend, etc.

Fast food places consistently claim they have have the best burger. Marketing ? yep. True? nope.
Let's grab this profession by the balls and exorcise the hype.
Let's build an entity that is beyond scrutiny and ridicule. Let's make an unerringly perfect profession where standards are high; where tolerance for incompetence is low; where there is a commitment to perfection and words mean what they're supposed to. Screw your marketing. Work toward a higher standard.
By the way Dave, you didn't give me the example of BS...you just told me what irritated you.

Okay guys, enough!!! Geez, you sure learn a lot about an organization and people from just a couple of questions.
Kevin, thanks for the apology, but you threw the log on the fire.
Chad, I understand your points fully and can understand some of them, along with everyone else's. However, I will let you know that my husband and I are not just people that decide to take this test and wing it! We have 16 years experience in the construction business, my husband went to college for construction management. We are educated and trained in marketing and have been self-employed for many years. We have completed an inspection training course, not through NACHI, plan to continue to educated ourselves on a consistence basis.
This is not a "hobby" for us nor will it be treated that way! We are jumping in with both feet and we WILL do 100 inspections and way beyond!! This will be our career and not a side job to just dabble in.
I am nervous however because these boards are open to the general public (without having to be a member) and they see such threads happening. Do you really think that, that really helps our industry? Do you think that new members feel wanted and welcomed?
I feel that we should all be more professional and hold OURSELVES to a higher standard.
Okay, goodnight all and good luck to everyone in their businesses!

on your postings where it says Member?, welcome also to NACHI! In my opinion, time will reveal that you’ve made a good business decision. Regarding Chad and a very small handful of other periodic posters to this BB…as the United Negro College Fund has been saying for a half a century, “a mind (particularly a bright one) is a terrible thing to waste.”

Full Membership Requirements:
You must have performed or participated in more than 100 home inspections.
Signed affidavits attesting to the fulfillment of Membership requirements are maintained on file. Review of supporting documentation may be requested by NACHI staff as this has been past practice.
