Fake photos of manufactured home

I had the potential buyer for a 1997 manufactured home call an wanted a engineering inspection for a FHA permanent foundation. The home was in Missouri a few miles away from the Arkansas state line. He submitted a report and photos to the mortgage company. They rejected his report because he was not a licensed engineer in Missouri. The agent was the owner sent me the inspector’s report, which lacked the photos I needed to verify the tie-down system. The agent sent me four additional photos she said was from the inspector. It was apparent the photos were from a much newer home and depicted four different tie-down systems. I used Google photo search and found the photos were from a mobile home sales website. I sent a text to that agent and officially dropped out.

Some unethical people out there unfortunately. Good catch!

Unethical people, for sure. I recently had a local reputable roofing company come give me a bid to re-flash my prefab chimney the right way. I told the estimator I was a home inspector when he got here, so he would know he wouldn’t need to dumb down the conversation. He did his inspection, roof and attic, and his report/bid had 2 pictures of my galvanized flue pipe, and one picture of an asbestos flue pipe from some other building. He claimed my flue was asbestos, and jacked a modest repair into an entire roof replacement. He must have overlooked the pictures that were actually of mine- oops. If he was smart, he might have thought I could get him leads; instead he will most likely be looking for another job soon. It just really irks me that companies do stuff like that, and possibly get away with it on a fairly regular basis. But, it gave me an idea for another service to market…
