Can you spot a flaw in this installation? The one I see won’t fail right away, but will fail soon:
funnel with a wire in it
and the head flashing!!!
The thread title is misleading
where to begin…
demo and replace…
With the trim on the window cut on 45 angles there is no way to properly flash the window and it will be a leaker.
And no backer rod and sealant joint per most window mfgrs. instructions.
Want me to keep on picking at it?
Top right corner of the picture looks like what ever is left of the old it is tucked behind the new moisture barrier.
once again reverse lap.
gonna leak.
Why so many hand tacker staples that are over driven breaching the moisture barrier?
What happen to the selfsealing nails? for the stucco mesh?
How were/are the studs marked?
No backer rod and sealant joint between the stucco and trim around the windows/doors ?
Here’s the flaw I was thinking of:
*The plastic pan box is installed with a single screw at the center of rotation.
Nothing but caulk prevents the thing from spinning. Later, someone goes to install a light, the box will rotate against the caulk. Whatever good the caulk did, it will no longer do it.
*
Also note there good is no way to get a luminaire to seal to such as box, as it ends up flush to the finish wall. The unsealed knockout at the bottom of the box will leak water directly to the plywood furring behind.
(Note: I can’t find a 7/8" outdoor rated electrical pan box in stock in the San Francisco Bay Area, though it appears you can make something close using a QuickFlash product plus an Allied Molding pan).
Love it.
You go Carl or should I just call you “Mr Stucco” ?
How much of this will be visible to a general Home Inspection study after full completion “Mr Stucco” ?
How much detail is visible on a sheetrock wall when it is done and painted Bob?
they do make self flashing exterior boxes
that would also be my biggest concern!
Next step is Charley =IR camera/moisture meters plural and then the lawyers = wheel barrow to carry my money to the bank.:D:D
And that folks is how it is!
Can a person sue theirself and win?
Carl ya need to quit telling people how to do it correctly, how in the world am I going to expand my moisture intrusion business:p:shock:
Ok Charley you got it I am done !
Thats all you had to say.
