I am looking for a good fire door inspection software. I have been researching them, but there are not many reviews for any of the ones I have found. I figure someone on here could recommend a good one. I have heard some good things about Door Data, but I have also heard some negative things about the software. I’m not a fan of the fact that to be able to even see the software to determine if you like it, you have to pay for the full year for the software. This is $1250 plus $45 to put it on my IPad. I don’t mind spending the money on a good software, but just to test it…no way.
P.S. I am also interested in recommendations on an agreement for fire door inspections. I don’t feel that my home inspection agreement would be sufficient. Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to this.
Exactly what are you inspecting related to Fire Doors?
Generally, a Fire Door ijnspection consists of 13 to 15 points on a checklist.
Even the FD uses these in their inspections.
Google it. There is a plethora of example.
With that being said, unless you are doing something elevated from the norm, simply make your own template on your current inspection software.
This should not be a major issue to deal with.
I just saw your website.
As a Fireman/Inspector, what are you using now?
Have you been to Facebook Groups? There are some really great Groups for Fire Inspectors. I am certain many there can better answer your questions as they are in the same situation that you work with.
We will be inspecting the 13 points that are the standard. I am a certified fire inspector in the state of Florida, as well as a Nachi certified home inspector. I am qualified per Florida requirements. I am familiar with the standard inspection checklists. I am looking for something to simplify the process. I currently use Tap Inspect for home inspections.
Does Tap Inspect not allow you to create your own Templates?
Seems like all you need is a basic app type checklist.
If not, what exactly are you looking for?
Yes, templates can be created, but im looking for reporting a little more in depth that a basic 13 point report. Especially when Ill be inspecting places with a substantial amount of doors.
Obviously, you are not ‘getting it’. That is all up to YOU.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no premade software for this, unless it is available through your Fire Inspector resources. This is not something you will find through Home Inspection resources. Standard Software is the basics only. You will need to modify it to what exactly you want. If you want specialty templates, you either need to create them yourself, or convince the Software Developer to create them for you… but you will need to provide a lot more information than what you are sharing with us here. All I know so far is, you want more than a checklist… but I have no idea what that is. Neither will anyone attempting to create a template for you!
Thank you Marcel. I pulled up your link and scheduled a demo for monday morning. I see that you use home inspector pro. Since my post i discovered that their software has fire door inspection templates. Im planning to check out their demo version tomorrow. I appreciate your help!
