FL Third nail retrofit

What are the thoughts of the Florida Inspectors and company’s that provide a third mail retrofit service? Like on the older homes adding a third nail to straps/clips to qualify for wind mitigations. My understanding is the service is provided to the entire roof line from the easement access.

It’s a service my competitor provides.

3rd nail is good for wind protection & insurance discounts.
It depends on the construction design if you access from the soffit.
Is your competitor a INachi member properly licensed to perform the service?

What is this

Yes I believe he is a nacho member. Was unaware that we could add nails to a property as inspectors. (Granted he also possesses a carpenter license) I was under the impression any work generated from an inspection was a question of ethics.

WindMit only he can do repairs. Full comp insp no work for 12 months.
A “carpenter license” will not get you the required permit for a retro-fit.
This doesn’t stop someone from illegally doing it.

I love this company

Yea it’s interesting because on Four Points they don’t do reinspections as long as the realtor/client sends a photo of the repairs and an invoice.

That only applies to FULL HOME INSPECTIONS, not other ancillary inspections, unless restricted by local AHJ/Laws.

He’s either a contractor (certified or registered) or he’s a unlicensed tradesman.

Makes no difference on the Wind Mit if you’re there at some point down the road, since they don’t ask who installed the 3rd nail or when it was installed.

Homeowners are saving boatloads of insurance money by upgrading the roof to wall connection around here.

Getting a 3rd nail into every single roof to wall connection does NOT sound like fun to me - even if it were to bring in some extra $
