Follow up to an age old question

Continuing the discussion from question… Does Joining Realtor Associations really help?!?:

Apparently new inspectors think the same when it comes to where we should spend our marketing time and dollars most effectively. I see a lot of benefits to real estate associations AND the chamber of commerce. My new question is, has anyone found a significant benefit to joining EITHER a real estate association OR a local chamber? @jwatts1 If you had it to do over again which route would you go?

I was a member of the chamber of commerce for a couple of years…it wasn’t a match for me.

I was an associate member of the local real estate association…mainly for access to the Supra-Key. I never went to any meetings nor sponsored events.

I did take advantage of the continually updated membership roster which included the top guns.

It worked out well for me.

I’m a member of my local RE Association which provides me access to Showingtime and SentriLock which is an electronic lock box. So in my case being a member provides me with valuable tools I use to book jobs and gain access.

I have been a member of my local Realty Association as an affiliate going on three years.
There are two other home inspectors as affiliates also.
We get listed in every monthly mailing. There are over 3000 realtors.
In three years I have not gotten one call from any of these realtors.

I have belonged to the Real Estate Association for nearly 20 years. I do it for the same reasons as Kevin, so I have access to Showingtime and SentriLock. It is worth it to me for the ease of scheduling inspections and having the electronic key. I did have one agent in all of that time tell me that they called me because I was and affiliate member.
