Free wind mit/4 pt w/$275 home inspection

We are coming across this all the time with certain inspectors in this area. Lost a job the other day where it was a 1600 sq ft townhome with a wind mit. We quoted the inspection, got the order from the client and then received a call back advising that another inspection firm, Internachi Member, was willing to do the whole thing for $200.00

Would love to call the inspector and tell him to stop undercutting everyone. He is busier than most, but it is because of price.

We are currently doing well, but don’t like to have to explain to a client why another company is almost 1/2 of what we are charging. Quality vs. quanitity. We provide quality.

I would, and have, explained to my Clients that if the cost of the inspection is your main concern, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

And, on a different note, the guy “reluctantly” changed the wind mitigation report to what it should have been in the first place and the Client saved $1,700.00 yearly. This all started by me taking the time to help the Realtor.

As a result, next week I will be doing the inspection on a 6,000 square foot, 1.2 million dollar home and I assure you, the fee will be significantly north of $200.00!

I am going to charge my usual price and them sub it out to these guys. I figure I will make about $150-$175 profit per inspection for just showing up and collecting a check.

It would be a great idea except it would be your a-s on the line if there was any problems.
