Gas detection

Just curious if everyone uses a gas detector (sniffer) on EVERY gas pipe fitting in a house…

Thanks for the input icon_smile.gif Don’t get me wrong… I wouldn’t mind running my gas detector along all gas lines… hell, for $300 for an inspection, I’d run it along the water lines, too , but just wanted another opinion…

I have a Tif 8800 but honestly, I use my nose more than anything. They don’t add that pungent stink for nothing.


Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I don't whup out the tif unless I smell something. Same thing witht the protimeter. Unless I see or otherwise sense moisture, I don't get the SM out.

True.... I mean even if there was a small gas leak and you couldn't smell it (because its so small), it wouldn't cause any harm.....
