Gas meter partly enclosed

I’ve been going back and forth on this gas meter today, the front is open so its "ventilated"ish

Looks good to me. Protects the meter, prevents tripping.
The only part that needs ventilation is the little screened regulator.

Gives a nice display cabinet for placing packages for investigation by porch pirates.
All good

IMO not a problem, the vent is still venting to the atmosphere.

As long as the regulator vent is open. They used to put those indoors and the regulator vent would have a pipe protruding through the exterior wall. They got “closed up” all the time when the basement was finished. Back then you would hear the cry, “Gas man.”

A purist will tell you the vent is too close to the door. A pragmatist will tell you that the bench will help prevent vented gases from getting indoors.

And the meter is protected from the kids push toys and rowdy deck party participants.

Looks like a leaf magnet to me! :fallen_leaf: :fallen_leaf:

Also a blowing snow catcher. And with the meter/vent to deck surface clearance being minimal, I could see this thing being a potential issue (if in snow country).

Shouldn’t there be an accessible shut off valve?

Yes i wrote that up as the shutoff is under the deck

Was it accessible by removing this board? If it is I personally wouldn’t have a problem with it. But to each there own.
