Glazed garage door inquiry

Ok. Just wanted to make sure I’m not completely crazy. I’ve always considered these types of garage doors as glazed garage door. Had a home owner try to tell me that because it’s not glass it’s not a glazed garage door. Please tell me I’m not crazy .

A garage door with clear panels—whether glass or plastic—is considered glazed.
Even when it has a wind load rating. This is because it loses it’s impact rating due to the clear panel.

Now if you get Scotty on the horn and get some transparent aluminum, you may go ahead and call it not glazed. Of course then you’re in a Star Trek episode and the whole point is moot.

Unless the glass is impact rated

True, but I am pretty sure they aren’t really giving a discount for the garage door if there is any non-impact glass anywhere on the home.

I don’t see impact rated anything here anyway. Everyone flees to us when a storm is approaching.

If any opening on the home is not protected the credit will not be given

Pretty sure they use the term glazed so that it will encompass things that are not glass. Just explain that it can be an easy fix. I have had plenty of clients just remove that panel and change it to a solid panel. As long as you are outside of the HVHZ and dont have kin or tiptap the discount for A1,A2 and A3 is the same. But yes, that is not rated. I have only seen about three rated glazed garage doors over the years of doing this. You will know when you see one because they always look pretty cool.
