Hello Lisa,

I am a recently licensed inspector in Texas. The fastest way is to fulfill the education requirement and then take the test. Right now the requirement is 180 hours of approved education. There was a bill recently passed in the state senate which allows the Real Estate Commission to increase the requirement to 320 hours. There has been no word as to when or if they will increase it.

The other way would be to become an apprentice inspector. This would give you great hands on experience but takes about 2 years to complete all of the requirements.

Follow this link and you can get all of the information you need. The most important would be the list of approved courses.

Good Luck!
