HIP wishlist

No, I take them on mobile on site. Then get home and go through everything and clean up photos, redo comments that I might have to do, etc. But I wind up having to go through each section of comments, then go to photos (which I can’t figure out why there is only 4 photos on a giant computer screen), probably go back to the comments section a few times when I see a photo that reminds me of something that I forgot to put a comment about, mouse around a screen to go to the top to go to the next page of photos, etc. I could do all of that from the comment sections when I have the photos to the right of red/black. Each photo just needs a caption area, an edit button and a few check marks that are there in the photo section. Then I never have to go back and forth.

Sorry, not sure why that went through twice.

Great idea!

Gotcha. It is on the to-do list. You can double click a photo right now to be taken directly to the photo in the photo area plus drag/drop to rearrange them in the section itself.

That one is on the list.

I’m aware of that, and it is a bit more convenient. But it only works one way, so I still have to go to the top to go back to the comment section. I do like being able to rearrange the photos, but that is one more reason that I have to go back and forth and another reason why it would be faster the way that I was saying. Can’t wait to see it!!!

The ability to rearrange the photos in mobile would be nice!

Already exists on iPhone/iPad. Android doesn’t have the same functionality so we’re trying to code that manually.

On iPhone iPad, just look for the threelines to the right of the pencil. Grab one of those and drag it up or down.

Auto save option when switching from each section ie, clicking from exterior to roofing. Most importantly, I would like for saving it to stop kicking me back to the client info screen. HIP freezes up often on all the mac’s that I own, and sometimes I don’t save it as often as I should because it’s a nuisance continuously kicking back to the client info screen, and when I lose 30 or 45 mins of work after a long day, it makes my blood boil. If I could just hit ^s and stay where I’m at, it would save me alot of time and alot of lost reports.

The ability to redistribute photos in a section would be cool too, either by drag and drop or by having a drop down number list that you could chose exterior - cladding - 2, if you wished it to be the second photo if you wished. That would be quicker than deleting and adding photos to re-arrange them if you didn’t take them in the right order onsite.

Hey Wayne. It’s your lucky day! The new auto save doesn’t return to the client info screen. This version is already out on Windows and I’m finishing the Mac version up.

You can also already rearrange your photos without deleting and have been able to for about 2 years. When you’re in the section of the report and are looking at your photos for that item (via the film strip or swap with red/black) you can just drag and drop your photos to reorder them.

HIP definitely shouldn’t be freezing up on your Mac’s though, that’s a different issue. Are you using Dragon Naturally Speaking at the same time as HIP by any chance?

Hey Dom, that’s awesome that you read my mind and everything is or will be there :D.

No clue about the freezing issue. It used to happen on my old computer, so 4 months ago I spent $2,500 on a new MacBook pro, and it still happens. I have very few programs on it, just work related stuff and don’t leave multiple programs open. HIP is the only program its happened with on either computer ever, usually when I’m trying to save, or add photo or anything like that that tries to access the file system.

Thanks but I use a samsung Note 4 onsite.

Would like to use 16:9 photos and videos.

Would like a “next Tab” button on the photo gallery. if you have 50 pages of images, dragging your mouse up to the next one is tiresome.

As for the large photo for Ian, could there be a way to take the photo and divide into sections (say a photo into 4 quads) and place them so they take 2 photos on 2 different lines and not have space between.

OR would be cool is you could do zoomed area inserts. First picture is general and the second would be arrowed to the first.

In your camera, change your photo quality from 5 megapixels to 1 megapixels.

5mp? I shoot at 12mp and would prefer to be able to keep it that way for when I need to zoom in, edit, crop or read breakers or zoom in on wiring. Does this actually effect the program since all the batched pictures are compressed anyway?

Have you tried the photo overlay or crop feature for the zoomed area insert?

Nothing over 1 or 2 MP makes a difference since the photos are compressed. Though HIP Mobile also saves the full size images now on your local device (if you turn it on) and those will be whatever MP you set it to.

What matters is an awesome optical zoom on your camera so you can zoom in when you’re actually taking the shot to frame it the way you want. Obviously on Mobile this exists with the Samsung Galaxy Camera and a few devices coming out shortly.

Which is an awesome time saver on site I must say.

No more clicking out of HIP and into camera mode for taking pictures of data plates or anything else I know I’ll want to look at on a big screen later.
