I wish that when I update HIP to a new version it wouldn’t install all those “Documents” that I will never use.
I would also like to have more that one default color in image editing for the arrows and circles…ect…ect.
I’m always searching in the pallet for red.
WISH I could copy entire menus.
I’m working on a new multi-family template. But I can’t set up one unit as a menu folder and then copy the the entire menu to make unit #2, etc. I get an error msg saying I can only copy sections.
Very time consuming to do something simple.
Ian your effort to do each unit with its own folder will take more time on the report @ job than the setup.Plus makes the report crazy long
Simply add units under systems and components the way you do rooms and it is so much faster .
I love doing building reports because they take as much time and page count is as a small house .
I figured you must have an easier way, given you do a lot of 8 and 16 unit buildings. I considered messaging you as I was putting the template together.
I did this way because on the last 4-plex, that client specifically wanted each unit as a separate section, and given the business that client gives me, I wasn’t going to say no. ![]()
But I’ve modified my comments so much over the last few weeks, I figured it would be easier to build a new multi unit template from my modified template than try to copy and paste all those comments into my previous multi-unit template.
Anyhow, it’s done now. But seems silly copy is limited to sections. It’s not like the data in a folder is so astronomically huge that it would cause the program to lock up if it had to make a copy of a folder.
Another click in mobile that turns comment blue and sends to summary. Preferably Click once for Green (report shows black not in summary) next click blue (report shows blue sends to summary), click again for red (report shows red sends to summary), please.
It’s in the mobile beta using the advanced color feature.
Another wish:
The “Select Sections with comments or ratings only” button to also include “or with pictures”.
Sometimes I slot a picture that has no narrative yet, intending to write the narrative back at the office, but if it doesn’t print when I preview the report, I don’t see that it’s still waiting for a narrative.
Ian just hit me up on Hangouts or FB messenger. Not PM here as it is too cumbersome .
I will explain in detail as this forum has too many lurker comments on anything different or better.
How about being able to edit/caption photos straight from the comment section when photos are right of red/black? This way you could do each section comments, photos, and everything all at once. Much faster that way.
Are you batch adding all your photos at once and slotting them at once?
It would be nice to click on the pic in a report and it opens larger.
That’s what the +/- are for to zoom in. A PDF will always zoom to full screen though so on two images across an image will always be 40% width of the screen. We’ve been looking into a few other tricks though to make this even larger.
I’d still like an easier way to have an option of some pictures being bigger in the reports.
In particular, roof shots showing the condition of the roof don’t always look so great when squished down to to the standard size.
And don’t tell me about the sketch feature, because we’ve been down that road before, and it blows on MAC.
The sketch feature actually just had a major overhaul
You’ll see it shortly on the Mac. It’s already out on Windows.
Do you mean larger dimension wise? We talking half a page here or what?
Occasionally, on some roof shots, taking up a page width would be nice.
But I guess I’ll wait to see the new Mac version.
Sounds good. I’ll help you figure it out one way or another.
Another want: A Start new inspection button.
If I’m working on an inspection, then want to start a new blank inspection, If I hit open template, it pulls all the photos for the one I was working on into the new template.
The only way to start a blank inspection is close the program and reopen it.
Granted, I don’t do this often, because 99% of the time I’m importing from mobile, but stil…
Leaving the photos is on purpose as guys switch templates between full inspection, mold, 4 point, etc and want the same photos but don’t want to reload them. It’s also in case you do all your photo annotations and realize you were on the wrong template.
You technically can click Clear All Photos and open a template. We recommend restarting HIP though to free up memory. We load a ton into memory when HIP starts to speed things up as you’re actually in the program (rather than waiting for screens to load while working). Restarting the program between inspections keeps everything moving fast.

Not enlargen the pdf . They see a pic while they are reading the report and think, not sure what he is showing me? Double click on pic - boom, it opens up.
This would save me so much time on each report. I have been told it was in the works but that was a while ago.
