Footnote:
Sorry about statement that the mysterious owner of HG whoever it is does nothing to help anyone as I am sure he has his hands full trying to figure how Home Inspector Pro came from nowhere several years ago and stole all his clients.
Change is not always easy for those that have been doing things a certain way for a long time.
That is how it is in nature with the young replacing the old and may apply to report software as well.
Once again I apologize.
I am not dumb enough:), to think that price is everything, but on a board where everyone says that you get what you pay for(usually in reference to their services), one would think that price is a factor.
I do use HG and like it much better(but I admit I know it better than HIP)
All my clients and agents love my report. Many people do not read the whole thing(as reported here by many inspectors). My presentation(not the report) is what makes me stand out.
I personally think that many have gone with HIP because of price.
They(HG) have their own message board and answer all emails, phone calls ect. They gave me a class on using it(even bought me lunch and gave me a shirt) and have videos on-line.
John, Dominic has raised prices since the start to help recoup his costs but his other services and business make far more.
Despite increase in prices many experienced Inspectors have jumped ship from other softwares to use HIP.
The number of Hippies continues a record setting pace as more and more of these seasoned pros choose the best and not the cheapest because nothing other than yourself represents your service more.
Not even your website.
I agree that it is and could not have said any better.
Look forward to seeing you on the popular HIP forum.
Have you experimented with the different looks with borders and summary placement yet?
If you need help just ask one of us members or Dom and you will get help immediately.
Do not forget to upload your reports so they can be viewed by you your client and the Agents with password.
Do not worry as once you send them copies you will be notified every time they open a copy.
Let me know if you need help with the new drop boxes for defect comments or the document selections.
Have you had a chance to play with any of the many templates available yet as you will find changing systems and components sections on the fly is easy as the changing of templates.
Do not worry about adding to many John as there is no limit and same goes for the fastest loading photo editor in Dodge.
I hear the IR guys like the pic in pic feature.
Anyway let me know if you wish to learn any tricks or tips .
I will stand by what I said sice I have used and have experience with all of the above programs. HIP is $346.00 cheaper than its nearest competitor and much more flexible.
I don’t see you throwing your hat in the ring Jeff.
What hat should I throw in ? Our price is currently $799. We run on a handheld that costs as little as $250 and can be used in the field. To do the same with HIP you will need to spend the difference in software cost on the hardware instead so it costs in essence the same… I have no doubt HIP is flexible…but saying it is MORE flexible then anything else is not true. With our software for instance we create an actual RTF file so you can open the document in Word and do anything that Word does then with the document. Comparing the features in Word to the text editing features in HIP or in 3D would be no comparison. A lot of the features Bob is talking about that have just been added to HIP have been in some of the other inspection software packages for over 5 years. I am NOT bad-mouthing Dominic or his software but there has been a LOT of misinformation on how superior his product is to anything else out there…
yes…all the HIPPIES will pounce on me now…which is why a lot of the other software vendors don’t even bother posting on this forum anymore. …and …yes…I would also agree that Dominic needs to raise his prices on the software…I understand he is using it as a lost-lead for his web-site services but eventually it will cost him more money then he is making.
Just my 2 cents. I’ve been in this business over 13 years and know that this is not a huge market and saturation can happen…and yes…we all know 90% is BS.
There you have it.
Even Dominic’s biggest competitor admits HIP gives way more value for the money and actually works at a loss.
It would seem to be a no brainer why so many are loyal to such a high quality product that foe its price many are downloading it as if it is freeware. Now… is the time to get HIP and with it, before the prices jump up.
George,
You have to learn how to ignore Bob. He is just jealous he has not yet met the requirements to join our ranks as truly Certified Inspectors. He actually got booted from the “other forums” and has no where else to run his mouth. Right Bob??
