You certainly are not giving your fellow ASHI members much credit for having the sense they need to decide for themselves who they should vote for.
While Nick claims not to be in any official leadership capacity, we know that he is the force behind NACHI…and he serves in that capacity at the permission of the membership - in spite of your “dictator” allegory.
You see, we vote by our continued membership/affilliation with the association. We are not a country and are not confined to NACHI by any means. We are members, voluntarily. We participate on the message board and other NACHI events, voluntarily. That participation and affilliation stops when we no longer support the association.
Even people like Michalski, who wander around the message board dropping their negative turds of wisdom continue to participate and add to the association, voluntarily.
No dictatorship here, harris. Your uncensored posts are proof enough of that.
I think that “permission of the membership” is overstating it a bit.
And, all this time I thought I was offering positive turds of wisdom…helping people build their business and learn.
I do it voluntarily because I like my fellow members (well, most of them;) ), certainly not because of any feeling I have one way or another for nick or the assocaition as an entity.
So stating a preference for elections for officers is “slightly unhelpful” or negative?
I began by asking Nick why he was inserting himself in ASHI elections. He answered, and I can accept his reasoning (whether or not I agree, he at least explained his rationale). My only comment in response was that I admire ASHI for having elections for leadership posts, and I wish the same was true of this organization.
Nothing negative meant by it, just voicing a preference for democracy and things I see in another association that I think can benefit ours.
Of course I can see by the negative rep I just got for expressing that opinion with the attached comment “Keep wishing or you could leave” that some seem to enjoy having no say in leadership selelction (or else they may have a personal animus against me…but who could that be?)
Nick…I’m glad to know that your proud of the fact that you use your members dues to fight frivilous laysuits and force ashi to spend their members dues on the same…
I guess I think differently… if two orgs have so much in common I would think their commom goal would be educating the public about our profession, and spending more dollars on getting non member inspectors to join an org. to raise the level of professionalizm across the board.
I also find it interesting that ASHI members pay you dues and accept the fact that you use those dues against ASHI with out having any say about it… Guess if an inspector pays both orgs it must balance out and thats oK>
You are incorrect. No one sued anyone. We merely defended our registered mark from ASHI’s infringement, a requirement of maintaining one’s rights regarding a mark.
Let’s not wait until Charles wins. Email me at nick.gromicko@nachi.org and I will email you back my personal cell phone to call me. I’ll present to you a very fair settlement which gives ASHI my “HI Experience” Registered Trademark so that they can then register “ASHI Experience.” It will cost ASHI nothing. You can then present the generous offer it to whomever at ASHI it goes to.
We’ll move away from officer’s volunteering for their positions when someone names another association that permits an inspector to join, list himself on 4,500 sites, post on any section of the message board without being censored, form a local chapter, name himself President of the local chapter, and launch a chapter website announcing an educational event all within his first 60 seconds of membership.
I am not sure of the whole storey as far as the trademark dispute, but as I am here in Colorado, just arrived, and will speak to Nick personally to see if he is serious about transferring the mark, if in fact ASHI wants the mark.
Having secured a number of trademarks, I know the expense involved, and I am sure if Nick agrees to this transfer, ASHI will not have a problem reimbursing the legal expenses.
I have never known Nick to go back on his word, so let’s see. If ASHI is not interested please email me directly at Michael@inspectiondepot.com or post on here accordingly so I don’t waste my time.
Ahhh Nick… Why in the he… would I call you about legal issues that you have with ASHI?
Contact the responsable person that would address this.
I’m sure your very aware that we as ASHI members elect reprensantives to address this and other things in our org. opposed to members self appointing and un appointing them selves for what ever position as they see fit…
Nick I guess your members don’t want me talking to you, my box thingy on the board is going crazy, I started out this am black right there with ole bushart] with -2, went to green, black, red, and now am -3 and orange… Wheres the yellow lite??
Sure, there are some flops. That’s part of the growth process, individually and as an organization.
However, the volunteer officers are in a rather unique position: They (we) want to be there. We’re not pressured into it. It’s the love of the profession that is its own reward.
And, when it’s not fun anmymore, or other matters press in, then there are others to step into the position.
You well know that at ASHI, the outgoing President with staff advice appoints Committee Chairs (such as officer & BOD nominating committees). These committee chairs with staff advice pick committee members.
We’ve both seen the politics involved in officer elections, and seen Chapters where the same small clique have been pulling strings for 15 + years.
And as far as a democracy and following the memberships vote, etc - Lets not forget the Candidate Logo Usage Lawsuit, etc
