Congrats to all. I do have one question. With som many of the steering committe members filling other roles now, will they relinquish their seats there? If so, how are they to be filled?

Signal 5-5-5-5 sounded January 23, 2005. God bless the families of the 3 FDNY brothers who answered their last alarm.
John Beelew's two children go to the same nursery school as my youngest. His wife is a teacher in the middle school that my son attends. 15,000 people came to town on the day of his funeral. The ballfields were all plowed to accomodate the cars and busses. His service was held at our church, St. Margarets. His wife is on maternity leave, with a 5-month old baby girl. He lived about 3/4 mile from my home.
Our town has seen more than its share of misery in the past 5 years. 31 families in our hamlet were affected by 9-11. Many FDNY Firefighters reside here.
Many do not realize that it doesnt take very much to snuff out a life during a fire. These guys faced a choice: jump and take their chances, or burn to death. Not much of a choice.
John's wife made him promise that he'd come home every day. She stated that she was grateful that he tried his best to keep his promise to her. Unfortunately, he died.
Very sad.
Another teacher's (same school) brother is clinging to life after jumping.
We're praying for him.

As am I. Everyday i get notices of Line of Duty Deaths. Each one affects me. Just like when a fellow inspector is injured. We are like brothers. I do not know those guys, but it could have been me. I read a quote not long ago from a FDNY chief. They said were a similar attack to occur again, the outcome would likely be the same for FDNY. Because they are not going to be able to tell firefighters to not go in.

Wow, now that’s what I call progress. Great moves on Nick’s part. I hope this helps get NACHI going in the right direction again. Blaine, if I can help here in Michigan let me know.

I have been asked to be NACHI’s Western States Director and intend to do my best to help NACHI grow and move forward. My congratulations to Gary. It is a good idea for Nick to share some of the burden. I offer my support and assistance to Nick, Gary, and all NACHI’s leaders. I make myself available for members also. http://bjccinspections.com/BJCC_Press.html
