I'm typing this from the Ft. Lauderdale, FL home inspector/mold licensing meeting.

Well, it is a remediation meeting in part. And the remediation portion has most of the issues with regard to grandfathering. Assessor’s license is a bit more straight forward.

Speaker in favor of E&O insurance.

Speaker explaining that his biz is down 60% but his premiums went down 60% too.

Speaker correctly complaining that simply taking a mold sample means little. Too many variables.

Good point Nick! I’m listening via phone!

I just spoke. I explained that most consumers, when they order a mold inspection, actually want a causation inspection.

The only way one can determine what is causing a mold problem is through a holistic understanding of building science and condensation and grading and moisture intrusion and EIFS and stucco and HVAC and roof leaks and plumbing leaks and foundations and ventilation… and that is why www.IAC2.org requires all applicants to first be a member of InterNACHI.

Harvey Gordon starting off with a little Kumbaya. Asks that we applaud the state employees. Applause.

Harvey giving history of law.

Harvey pounding the mini-Minneapolis association. It’s become the bash the mini-Minneapolis association meeting.

With regard to the 4 year requirement Harvey asked from the podium if InterNACHI can verify membership join date. I answered from the back of the room that we can verify every member’s join date.

Harvey finishes strong. Applause.

He is a preacher and preachers always give good speech :D.

Another pro-insurance speaker.

Another “I have lots of experience” speaker. I’ll spare you.

I just spoke explaining the exclusive relationship InterNACHI and IAC2 has with the leading respiratory research hospital in the world, National Jewish Health, that IAC2 has great training courses, and that IAC2 publishes a great text book on mold inspections. I also argued that IAC2 members should be immediately grandfathered.

Meeting wrapping up.

Overall and in all honesty, I’d sum up the meetings this way:

In the mold portions of the meetings, IAC2 earned a lot of respect and gained a lot of ground. I can’t really complain.

In the home inspection portions of the meetings, it was an all out InterNACHI rout. In my wildest dreams I couldn’t have imagined that InterNACHI would totally dominate in terms of support, public testimony, and attendance. Total, 110% InterNACHI dominance. Nice work folks.

Gotta catch a plane home in 3 hours.

The end.

Great job Nick !!!

Stay on them NICK. You are doing a great job! Once the meeting is over go to the state guys and congratulate them for a job well done… after all now the ball is on their court. Thanks bro!

Thanks Nick for the support.

Only one correction, I have not been elected. I have been appointed to the Broward County Central Examining Board by the Broward County Commission. We license general and specialty contractors, fine contractors, revoke licenses, and award consumers money if a contractor does not pay the consumer back. Its a great job. It pays $0 as its a volunteer position. I feel it is a way to serve the community.

Thanks Nick, Jay and all NACHI members. NACHI Rocks!!

Jay,

Thanks for all you do, keep up the good work!
