Someone needs some additional lessons about what "private" means. But then that seems to always be the ways of the religious political extremists. They are not willing to listen, much less learn.

Enough is Enough with the Inspirational talk. Lets move on. This is getting ridiculous.

We are professional Home Inspectors who want to learn from each other concerning housing defects and potential upgrades. If your interested in making yourself feel better by reading inspirational messages then you need to attend Will & Russells' Inspirational thread in the Members Only section. Until then, Lets talk Inspection.

Now I'm probably going to get a reply saying that I have an attitude, Right?![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

I still don’t see the mechanism within this organization whereby one member (or for that matter, all but one member) can delete, edit, or move the posts of another.

I am happy we are figuring this out now... we'll need it in place in the not-so-distant future.

There is no one to "warn" you. This is an un-moderated message board and always has been. NACHI members are all equal.

ASHI’s deletion of their own member’s branding forum is another example of why we have an un-moderated board…even if it gets uncomfortable for the willing reader at times.

So again, what is mechanism by which some of us wield this power over others?

What Nick is saying is very important, these types of issues are never winnable, but in almost every case someone looses, and normally losers leave.

Is this where we set out to be?

Before this disintegrates into something that cascades into a major conflict there should be a cooling off period. This thread and the inspirational thread should be locked down for 24 hours, no posting, while taking time to review. Given the chance those who believe they might have crossed the line will be able to go back and rethink and edit their posts. In any case we will stop leaking heated emotion for now.

Your Brother in NACHI, Joe.

Good idea Joe. The problem that we’re experiencing prohibits any one of us or group of us from locking it down too.

We can neither lock it down, move it, delete it, or edit it, without a mechanism for such power wielding being established.

I hate to keep going back to ASHI but imagine if they permitted their branding forum to stay open until members started voicing opposition to it... then locked it down... in place. That's worse than deleting it.

Nick

PS I am pleased to see that at the time of this post, 39% voted yes. I personally hope more will vote yes. However, even if only 1% voted yes...it is only a poll...not authority to do anything.

I just noticed!

Chris how did this thread get moved?

Nick

PS Lia Babitch, a full-time NACHI staff member wants to vote yes but is using the office ethernet I'm on and the poll won't take her vote as I already voted once.

I understand what you are saying, but branding is not off topic and directly related to the inspection profession and their action is nothing more than blatant censorship.

The major difference is that the inspirational thread is very off topic and not directly related to our profession. I do believe that is why boards are monitored, not so much as censorship, but to keep the board on topic.

We must find a way out of this problem before it consumes us, there can be no pat agreement with ideas that are difficult to verbalize under such diversity as we have here on this board.

This is my last post on the subject, I would be very disappointed if we allow a minor issue like this to cripple our efforts. What will happen when we have to face a major problem?

I see your point...and literally see her's.

I do not have authority to move, lock, edit, or delete any other NACHI members posts. The association belongs to ALL of us equally.

Even when we removed all the references to Nation's Hazard from www.nachi.org, we didn't remove Mr. Napadow's posts... and he's not even a member.

You make a good point... but not the one you were trying to make.

If we start locking, moving, editing, or deleting posts...what's to stop them from being re-posted on another thread?

Hope the censor committee has a huge staff.
