I've had the same simple cell phone for 7 years, should I go to an Android or what?

Blackberry…

I go for days without charging it. It works. I get my emails. I like the Body
Glove case that snaps/stays firmly on my side during the day. No keeping phones in pockets, shirts or the dashboard…

If I was in an office a lot I would sign up for a $10/mo. unlimited minutes thing with T-Mobile via a wireless signal.

BTW… A plus with Blackberry and T-Mobile… I can email reports etc when I need to with NO tether charges and no data charges. EASY, just plug in my USB cable to my laptop and GO, don’t use it very much, but is really helpful when I’ve used it. On site report / email or email from the truck etc.

I don’t really need an app to tell me how much to tip or all the other gadgetty stuff… I can also “squeeze by” for another day if I forget to charge it when I get home.

I was tempted by the fancy phones not too long ago, maybe I’ll change someday, but for now, Blackberry still has my vote.

I love the iPhone. Of course, I have the 3G and my only complaint is battery life. I’m always re-charging this thing.

What I like about it:

  1. Texting. Who wants to talk to anyone? Hahaha. No really? How often do you just need to know one thing from a person. Where are you? What’s so-and-so’s number? So easy with a text which is super easy on an iPhone. It even corrects your spelling.

  2. GPS. If you’re a member of the Fugawi Tribe, indispensable.

  3. Apps out the ***. My favorite is AroundMe. It tells you every place that is within .25 mile [or farther] of you that you could possibly want to go. Plus contact info and directions. Others: AOL Radio [never miss a Rush broadcast, again! hahaha]; Shazam [what’s the name of this song? Find out with Shazam!]; Bloomberg [find out how much money the Obama Administration has cost you today!]. And, of course, how far away can the INACHI app be?

  4. Syncs with your MacBook. Enter a contact on the iPhone, seconds later, it’s on your Mac. And vice versa.

Once you go Mac, you never go back.

The problem with Palm is their dying a slow death. Don’t expect them to be around much longer.

BLACKBERRY.
All that sruff Tim said.
Blackberrry 6 coming out soon and apparently worth waiting for a month or so.

I actually mis the reliability but last time I checked the screen kinda sucked as far as app icons go and those trackballs sure do stick.

I had to carry a bottle of rubbing alcohol to squirt on my thumb to unfreeze the thing.

Much as I used to love typing on the thing ,the screen looks so darn small now.

Iphone and Android are the future.(at least for the next several years)

I also have a Droid Incredible with Verizon. I do not like Mac either and used to have a Blackberry. I like all the apps(most are free). The battery life is lacking, but they just came out with an extended battery.

Some of the features I use are:

Email
Google calendar
Zillow(with gps also)
Compass
Google maps and directions with navigation(gps)
Level
Push to talk(like nextel)
Facebook with links to my contacts
Internet ( I have used it for the message board)
Dictionary
Calculators, construction and scientific
Google sky(for stars with GPS)
Barcode scanner for prices
Keyring for discount cards
weather with radar
camera(8mp)
file viewer PDF and Office
Kindle(free)
Yellow pages
alarm clock
Music, skype, google goggles, stocks

There are more, better than the Blackberry and Iphone.

You’re right about that *&%$!! track ball! But that, thankfully is a thing of the past.

Heh heh. They all have unique issues.
Android battery life and also gets buggy with something called force close.

I can just start grooving to a Pandora tune only to have it suddenly freeze up once in a while.

I understand it can upgrade but then you need to wipe your phone clean.

Backup and update!!!

Still lame.
Imagine if every time M.S updated you lost all your files.

That is the Devils advocate however as how many phones are even able to update like that.
I will update at some point just because some of my favorite apps are updating to 2.1

Yeah, it’s crummy but that’s what happens when software is loaded into the firmware of a device. A lot of smaller devices like routers, printer servers, phones, etc work that way.

I just feel as if all software should be able to transfer to the Micro card for safe keeping.
