Hello Scott:
Glad to see you come aboard! I am sure that you will see various discussions, and others here that you know and have dealt with for some time. I asked Dave, Ryan, and Harold Endean to come aboard because I can see where the Home Inspector will benefit from people who have experience.
Keep in mind that not many Home Inspectors are really interested in discussing anything more than EXISTING dwelling units, that is One and Two family and Multifamily dwellings.
A Home Inspector has a certain list of "visual" inspections that they make in properties that are to be sold. I am sure that you are familiar with this in your area. I spent over 8 years in Pasadena, CA as the Electrical Inspector and had many of these types of inspections to complete.

Joe,
Well I came aboard to help lend my 2 cents. For the members of this board who do not know me, I was an electrican for more than 30 years, I was in my own business for 15 years and I am now a working electrical inspector for more than 5 years. In my time as a contractor, I was called out by many a homeowner or realtor to either agree or disagree with a HI report. Now don't get me wrong I am not here now nor was I ever out to get anyone or try to make an HI look bad. I simply would quote NEC code to see if a house and its wiring was install as per the NEC. Soemrtimes my letters would back up the HI and sometimes it didn't. I don't have the time now but I can get a list of things that differ from an EC and a HI and an AHJ, and how they all would look at a house that is on the market to be sold.
