I absolutely concur with Larry.

I use mine on a daily basis.

As for pricing. The HI store has the best price.

The only problem I have with this meter is that the pointer needle needs to repaired. It has become disconnected or worn due to use. I have had mine for many years.

What pointer needle?

As far as I know, the Tramex is a non-destructive meter with no needles.

Am I missing something?

Maybe his pad came loose. Before it falls off use a touch of hot melt glue in a corner, if this is the case

Mine has four small phillips head screws on the back. But how you get into the dial movement is a good guess. Good luck if you try to disassemble it yourself.
