This is helpful info guys.
I am in the same boat as Ron.
When performing a mold inspection only, do any of you base your initial mold inspection on sq ft of the house like hi’s?

I have been charging $350 for a limited inspection (3 samples included)
$450 for a complete mold inspection (3 Samples included) and additional samples are $125.00 each. So far it has been working out O.K.
I base a mold inspection off the size of the house. If they want air testing, I give them a rough estimate off the size, how many levels and what parts of the house they are seeing the mold. Sometimes testing is not needed, instead a bulldozer.
When you base your visual mold inspection fee on size (insp only no air samples), would you say it is similar to your HI fees?
Yes, $10.00 per 100 square feet after the first 2,000 square feet. A three thousand square feet home would be an additional $100.00.
Can you recommend any resources or training that can help with interpreting lab results??
I can see that interpretation would be the toughest part of mold assessments. IMO
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
No, I learned it from my Industrial Hygienist. Feel free to email at jbraun@mo.nachi.org your lab reports and I will walk you through them. In the mean time, read any studies you can find that deals with health effects caused by mold.
Ill take you up on that offer!!
Thanks for all the help, greatly appreciated!!
Don’t forget that if you are following IAC2 SOP, you need to take **2 **outdoor samples.

BUMP!
Well… that 12 years went fast!
Just curious…
Since everything in today’s world has gone through the roof (cost wise… except most Home Inspections ), does anybody care to Update the fee’s mentioned in this thread?
This should be fun…!!
Time has fly!! COMPREHENSIVE MOLD ASSESSMENT:
We charge $145.00/sample. Minimum 5 IAQ samples (small house; 3/2; 1,500 sq-ft)
Bi-O-Tapes and SWAB samples: $150.00/each; at least one and each project
Assessment report $450.00 +
Travel: depends minimum $50.00
Mold Remediation Protocol: Minimum $500.00 +
PRV & Certificate of Clearance: Same as the Comprehensive Mold Assessment
Seems like it would be proper in this situation for you to lead off with your prices.
Considering you are in my market, my fees are confidential.
(Read between the lines… YOU aren’t charging enough)!!
Well, other inspectors may not want to publish their prices as there are forum members in their market who might see it. If you are not willing to show competitors your prices, why should they?
Probably not. Still a very healthy profit margin though.
Which is why I ASKED if anyone was willing to share. It’s their decision.
I would be just as interested in where lab prices have went. I only have a 4-year history with lab prices, and they have been static for the most part. Same with cassette prices.
How do lab prices compare to back in 2012? Nowadays I think most labs use AI instead of manual labor to examine mold samples. Has that kept the lab prices down? Are lab prices higher, the same, or maybe even lower than they were in 2012?
We can assume shipping prices are higher of course.
Best Lab in Florida today is EMSL. They read 100% of the slide and provide report same day. The cost per sample very competitive. Customer Service is great. You want to know about Mold Inspections visit us: www.HOMEINSPECTORUSA.biz or www.INDOORMICROBIALSPECIALIST.com Best to all / John
i just turned in a tape sample to a lab last week for $25. didn’t ask about cassette prices because i don’t do mold testing, it was a painting job at a school i needed to sample before i painted over it, just in case since it was a school. i did not trust the servepro guy when he said it was nothing. turns out it was mold, not dangerous, and in am alomst non-detectable amount. so was i right or was he right? it was mold, but it was also nothing. win-win i guess.
