NACHI lost 10 members today.

test…nope can not edit a members post. I just tried to to see if it would allow that, and it won’t.

You cannot moderate InterNACHI members! This means you can not unapprove posts made by InterNACHI members or unapprove non-member threads with approved replies. If a thread needs to be moderated and has member replies, please report that post.

So what the hell has happened to us Joe???

These times are absurd indeed!

Sad sad times.

Complete lack of THINKING…!!!..on Nicks & Joe F’s part…I too think this is ridiculous…!!

William,

The purpose of this provision is in an instance where a complaint (an actual ethics complaint) is files against a member for a post. Remember, this assumes that ALL posts make it to the board.

So, let’s say that a member posts that you are a creep and a wife beater (not saying you are). You file a complaint against this member with ESOP. ESOP receives the complaint, and looks at the post. We contact the poster and request he tak the postdown. He refuses. We have the ability to temporarily remove the post until the complaint is investigated and outcome determined.

It protects you and the posting party from malicious moderation. Whenever something like this is done, ESOP must explain why.

We are accountable for our actions, where thers may not be.

Gottcha. Thanks.

It’s just the way I interpret it to mean anyone saying anything cross to an ESOP member especially to one from NH had better look out and fear for his membership.

As you interpret it then I agree.

The reason I set the rules the way I did was to keep the personalities out of it. Also, it helps eliminate any perception that an ESOP member can abuse his/her power as both a moderator and ESOP member.

I have been staying out of this because, Frankly ( sorry Frank didn’t mean you:mrgreen:) the whole organization has deteriorated to the point that I just don’t care anymore. Are there so few members left that we now have to mine the ESOP for moderators? Were there not some other members who could have filled this onerous post? I can understand why Joe is concerned.

It seems like fewer and fewer members are assuming more and more responsibility in INACHI. One of the strengths of this organization, when I joined, was the breadth of resources represented by the membership. Today, it looks like the entire organization is being run by a very few members. All of them are capable people and I don’t want this to come off as an attack against any of them, but what happened to that broad range of input from many members? Where is the construction of a greater whole from the varying parts? Has membership withered to the point that INACHI can no longer count on a broad membership resource?

My membership is up for renewal next month, and with the downward spiral of INACHI and the tough economic times, I will be hard pressed to send in my $289. which I could spend elsewhere such as going to the movies or at Harbour Freight Tools. Unless something is done to change the course of this ship, it is heading for the rocks. Fortunately it will not take many members down with it.

All posts from banned people should be kept off of the message board. If they say “up your” or “good morning”, it matters not. All of their posts are banned.

This should be the end of the story.

After this…it is nothing more than one man judging what others should read. This is wrong.

Censorship is killing this message board and must be stopped. We have no need for moderators of any kind.

Those wishing to be a judge over what others should read have already disqualified themselves from the job.

This “moderation” program appears to be another program by the “blessed” few in Nick’s inner circle. When Nick announced that the board was going to be moderated, I threw my name out there, fully expecting to be ignored, but wanted to possibly fight this system from the “inside”.
It wasn’t until Kevin Pierce posted and pointed out the list of moderators at the bottom that I even knew I was listed as a moderator. No one told me, no one explained how it works, no one told me anything. I wouldn’t be able to “moderate” a post if you held a gun to my head and told me to…I simply haven’t been told how/what to do…but I have been on the ignore list ever since I pissed Nick off over him refusing to send me the manuals because I was a part time inspector. I have since emailed Chris asking him to remove my name as a moderator, since I don’t do anything with it anyway.

I would imagine that other “moderators” (you can imagine who) were given a much better understanding on how to moderate and delete posts than I was given.

Dale is right, the moderation is a joke, and JB is right, it has killed this message board. I will continue to speak my mind, and if they don’t like it, they too, can kick me out…

Dale,

I had NOTHING to do with a decision to appoint moderators. I stated to members of ESOP long ago that I am not in favor of any ESOP member being a moderator.

Nick was awareof this, as he was part of the e-mail thread.

I was not privy to any behiund the scenes communications. I was unaware of who the 15 moderators were until someone sent me an e-mail AFTER an announcement was made.

Several members of ESOP were named as moderators, which I am not pleased with. But, this is NACHI. As such, I made some rules for ESOP members regarding moderation.

Dont lump me in. I wasnt the one who decided any of this.

Moderation didn’t kill this mb. It has been dead long before moderation came along there just hasn’t been a funeral. This board started to dwindle and die as far back as when Roy and Ray were allowed to chase a young lady around from thread to thread and harass the crap out of her. That turned a lot of people off to this board, then there was the conniption fits that took place after both Orlando conventions and the board became a soap opera of he said she said, then the election of the MAB that spiraled down into name calling, spitting hissy fits. Moderation came as a result of all those things and many more. The last five years of members quitting and coming back, childish behavior and the experienced inspectors getting tired of answering the same questions over and over and over and over and over again only to have some guy with four whole inspections telling him he is full of ****, finally just wore some down and they stopped coming here. There is still tons of great places within the Nachi website to go, learn and grow but the message board is no longer the friendly, helpful place it once was. I do not know who to blame, probably all of us. I don’t think the greenie / reddie grading system helped. It was taken too seriously by some, not seriously by others and just became a way to snap someones garter belt just to get a rise out of them. Too much crap allowed to go on for too long, plus some just moved on to bigger pastures.

I believe you might be right Doug, it is time we make a requisition to Congress for an application for Bail out Funds to get Members back to this MB.

The damage was done way before the Moderation took affect. No

Let Jesus be your moderator.

Nope, I found my name on the list and was given the same instructions as you.

And AGAIN - moderators do not have the ability to delete anything.

Same here. Haven’t moderated anything.

Damn Brian, there you go giving another job to a Mexican! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sounds like the system has created nothing but an act of Confususion and dispair Ian, hasn’t it?:)

Does that mean you’re like Jeff and also have no idea how to be a moderator on this board?

I figured out that the posts to be approved have an icon. I click the box and hit approve. The original post for this thread was one of those.

Yes, many are confused.

The dispair is simply amplified.
