Another HI called to tell me that he'd heard Roy Kook on the radio the other day... Ol' Roy said he thought metal roofs were the worst thing in the world, that they cost "five times" (?!) as much as asphalt shingles and that everyone should stay with asphalt shingles.
The other HI phoned the radio station and did a call-in question for Roy... asked him what he thought about all the millions of tons of toxic asphalt waste directed to our landfills every year. Ol' Roy immediately withered into a gelatinous mass of blubbering incoherance. I wish I'd caught the show. This was reportedly followed by a succession of calls from irate metal roof owners. Too bad for Gromicko. He doesn't know what kind of idiots he's promoting... there again, not that he really cares. |

Gil I would like to point out to you that Roy Cook has achieved a little more than what I have been able to see you accomplish. |

You spelled his last name wrong, but , I guess that was probably done on purpose anyway. |

Asphalt roofing is in fact five times cheaper than metal roofing and last longer by about ten to 15 years.
It can be recycled just as well as the metal. |

Last item, if you are going to start calling Nick Gromicko's prospects "idiots", you have just admitted to your ignorance and stupidity. Since I have been in Construction for 40 years including my hardhearted apprenticing, I am ready to make an idiot of you.

As per usual Gil is a past master at getting second hand information and getting it wrong . Richard was the person who Called in, and is a NACHI member and I stated in My opinion Steel roofs in our area are frequently installed incorrectly . They are also prone to let the snow on the roof slide off in one fell swoop. I also stated that they cost about 3 times what a asphalt roof costs. In our area most people only stay in their home about 8 years and the added cost of a steel roof ( my opinion does not warrant the higher cost) I used the example of a 60 year old person having to replace his roof should he spend $4,000:00 or $12,000:00 for replacement . In 15 years they could be going into an apartment and just possibly they could use the extra $8,000:00 for a good vacation . There is no proof that a steel roof sells for much more then Asphalt homes to warrant the cost . I guess Richard did not tell you the next person to call in (FRED) stated ROY YOU ARE ABSOULTY RIGHT . "I had a steel roof put on my home and it was the biggest mistake I ever made . It sure does lose its snow and I am sorry I ever had it put on. " Yes there where a couple of people who thought Metal roofs where great but not a flurry. Sorry for you Gil you showed your jealousy when I was on the Radio last time and it looks like you are still Jealous of ROYS HOME INSPECTION. Gil thought NACHI was great till he got caught lying and suddenly NACHI stinks and all members are idiots. Well Gil you have you opinion but NACHI keeps growing and I see you still like to come to the NACHI site to see what is happening in the real world. It is so unfortunate that you do not try and give some of the help to others you used to. |

I didn't hear the radio show but I am going to assume Roy didn't bring up your name or the name of OAHI/CAHPI so you have broken your promise, again, and as such have proven the point. |

Thanks Larry you are correct I did not mention any one but NACHI who is also the biggest Home Inspectors Association in Ontario. ASHI, OAHI, CAHPI, all admit that students are exactly that students. If you take the time to look at the https://oahi.com/PUBLIC/mapmain.asp . You can find all inspectors listed and they are far less then NACHI. From nothing to largest in just about two years shows what a great association we belong too. I would be glad to retract my statement on the Radio immediately if some one can show me with evidence that I made an error and NACHI is not the LARGEST Home Inspectors association in Ont.. Hear say is not acceptable . It is great the way this BB helps Home inspectors and the public also. 3 more letters from the phone in show . I am so glad I am able to get the NACHI name out into the eastern Ontario area. |

When you all say "largest in Ontario" or "number one" do you mean "most number of members?" Let me explain with an example... For years in the states we had a little association down here who was far smaller than NACHI in every quantifiable area (number of events, number of members, number of webpages, popularity of message board, attendance at conventions, number of exams and quizzes given, industry vendor relationships, member benefits, educational offerings, geographically, etc), yet they continued going around saying they were the "oldest and largest." Even when they counted their come only with cash Candidates procured through use of their diploma mill (just send in money), they had less members than us. So we never could figure out what they meant by "largest." We finally had our attorneys write them a letter asking them what quantifiable quality about them is "larger" than NACHI? And if they couldn't come up with one... would they please stop claiming they are the "largest." Well, they agreed that they were smaller in all areas and so now use "oldest and most respected." How a diploma mill that encourages unqualified come only with cash Candidates to go out and work for poor unsuspecting consumers as the only way to achieve full membership can ever be respected is beyond me, but at least they chose an adjective that isn't quantifiable. So the question is... when you say "largest" do you only mean "most number of members?" Just curious.
