All,

This is my last post on this thread, if I offended anyone I apologize, licensing is something I am very passionate and it seems quite opinionated about. That being said, my sincere desire is for all Florida home inspectors to work together and create a responsible and effective approach to licensing that would in fact protect the consumer and allow those inspectors who have dedicated themselves to this worthy profession the ability to prosper.

Furthermore, it is my wish that those in power within NACHI and FABI can see past their differences and work together to provide a foundation to promote our profession in the very best light, for the sake of both the Florida consumer and inspector. We are all too obviously aware of our differences, hopefully we too can discover a common ground on which to build an alliance.

Personally, I can think of no better profession than being a Home Inspector, the freedom, respect and income it provides fulfills my needs and the service I provide to my clients helps them through making one of the largest financial decisions of their lives, it is truly a rewarding experience. Because of that, I am dedicated to the process of enriching this profession for both the consumer and the inspector, if that includes HI licensing, then lets get busy creating something we can be proud of, because in the end we will have to live with it for a long time.

Jeff:

Thanks, at least we're talking again.

I know NACHI has a reputation of being all about marketing. This reputation was earned primarily because we (I humbly believe) are really good at it. I don't think anyone can deny it.

However 2 points:

1. The best home inspector in the world will fail without strong marketing, and having good inspectors go out of business isn't good for our profession, the consumer, or the inspector.

2. We are pretty dang big into continuing education. I know of only a couple events out of http://www.nachi.org/events where we didn't have a technical speaker. I also ask you to read http://www.nachi.org/inspectionexcellence.htm

And thanks for staying engaged with us. I confess that I sometimes can't see all sides of an issue until after plowing through an unpleasant thread. You are helping us evolve.
