Recently had home raised foundation with vent opening around house for crawlspace. The gas meter was sitting within a foot of vent. What concerns me is the vent where the meter is set is a opening directly below a bedroom. Floor boards are 1x solid together with carpet on top. Is there possible health concern. I reported the condition on the report. There are so many vent screens under the house that I was thinking they could close off this one vent for safety messure.
Gas meter placement rules are for the most part established by the gas utility provider (with the exception of some appliance vent proximity placement rules). If in doubt check with the gas provider. My first house (NJ) had the gas meter located inside the basement with a glass block positioned so they could read the meter through the wall.
That set up sounds like a very typical California home.
